It does not trigger mensus, simply because it has no relationship with the uterus and mensus! Gosh, wonder who in the world would suggest such nonsence.

Think logically like kmarc said, you need hormone to trigger mensus. If it's not the right time of the month, it simply will not come. Pap smear takes cervical cells far away from the uterus linings deep inside. It doesnt give out any hormones or triggers them. Totally no relation!

I don't mind getting updated info or corrected insight.

But you do have this nasty habit of trying to be humourous by being sarcastic that is borderline ridicule.

So, any more shots that you want to take at me? smile.gif

Whoa, nothing directed towards you my dear.. If you read properly, I'm merely pointing at the doctor who told you that info.

Anyway, I dont think there's much sarcasm in my previous post. It was just to make people understand the basics and the total "no-correlation" with period.

End of the day, pap smear does not trigger any period. No shots at anyone including you.. chill.. smile.gif

I put off posting a reply and rethinking the post. I think one thing you may not realize is that the post may not seem sarcastic but when you would be on the end of one, it's a different ballgame.

You certainly live up to your nickname of Fireball though, from the various posts that I've seen.

When you can't see the sarcasm or fiery tone of your posts, you may not realize this but it may be harder to accept your viewpoints. Yes, this is a forum where many different viewpoints can be presented but it can also backfire when it becomes critical.

That's not to say that I'm not a goody two shoes either. But when it comes to women problems, I do take a more gentler approach compared to some of the other posts around. If we wanted to help other women, it's probably not a choice but to be gentle. So you might want to reconsider your last reply in the STD post.

Totally out of topic, but this should be cleared no matter what.

In case I offended you, I offer my apologies. I'm gentle in plenty of ways, but when it comes to statements which makes no sense and would lead people, that's when I'm not gentle. It's basically to prove a point. Think about it, PAP smear triggering menses. It's absurd and would be utterly misleading to someone who has no idea about pap smear. Point taken, there's always a better way of expression. However, despite the fact that it has been pointed out before, people still think it's related. So yup, I'll be the "bad guy" to be stern enough to put it right. That's about it. I'm going to drop this, so I hope I dont have to reply non-related stuff here anymore.

Just to pull things back and keep the post related, PAP smears DOES NOT trigger menses smile.gif

Cervical cancer is still the number 2 killer among females in malaysia, and PAP smear is the way to detect it early. Be it government clinics or private, money shouldnt be of importance when we want to prevent cancer. smile.gif

Not long.. maybe the waiting period will take time, but the process is really quick and can be done in 10 mins. Just a simple swap taken from the cervix. Of course, other inspections will be done at the same setting to complete the examination! smile.gif

Husband probably can.. request and hope the Dr is kind. BF? I doubt so.. tongue.gif

YES

For girls/women who already had sexual intercourse ---> need to do Pap smear within 2 years after the first sexual intercourse

Then need to do every 2 years (IF your results is "normal"... otherwise follow the doctor's appointment, they will know exactly when is the best time for your next appointment)

This is NOT a test that you ambik skali je dlm seumur hidup (unlike thalassaemia testing)...
Pap smear is a test to screen for cervix CANCER
(read: cancer can happen ANYTIME... the EARLIER you detect it, the better the chance of saving your loved one from death)

Which means, you have to test it every 2 years (minimum)

Murah je... kalo pegi klinik/hospital kerajaan... diorg blh bagi ALL the information you need

remember... CANCER kills

x nk lah ibu / adik pompuan / isteri / gf you mati sbb benda nie kan? cry.gif
kalo dpt detect awal2, blh selamat

Am planning to do mine @ National Cancer Society. RM35 per test and money goes to a good cause biggrin.gif

There's another type of Pap Smear test offered - ThinPrep, RM15 more. Website says it's better than normal pap smear. Will ask the centre's personnel and ask for their opinion smile.gif
