I need some recommendation on the desktop specs which I'm going to build for working. As said budget would be around rm4k to rm5k (excluding monitor-already using dual Dell monitor)

How about these specs?

Option 1:
Core i7 950 - RM899
Asus Sabertooth X58 motherboard - RM800
Corsair 4GB DDR3-1333 x3 - RM372
Leadtek GTX460 1GB DDR5 OC - RM589
Corsair F60 SSD - RM439
Samsung Spinpoint F3 (HD103SJ) hard disk - RM170
Liteon DVD writer - RM65
Silverstone Strider Plus 600W or Seasonic X-650 power supply - RM399/499
Coolermaster HAF 922 casing - RM379

RM4112/4212 total

Option 2 (More powerful but if you don't mind doing 1 to 1 exchange later):
Core i7 2600K - RM999
Gigabyte P67A-UD3 motherboard - RM485
Corsair 4GB DDR3-1333 x2 - RM248
Leadtek GTX460 1GB DDR5 OC - RM589
Corsair F60 SSD - RM439
Samsung Spinpoint F3 (HD103SJ) hard disk - RM170
Liteon DVD writer - RM65
Silverstone Strider Plus 600W or Seasonic X-650 power supply - RM399/499
Coolermaster HAF 922 casing - RM379

RM3773/3873 total

C-Zone/Viewnet price list

Intel reported there is a bug with Sandy Bridge motherboard chipset. Core i7 2600K is better than i7 950 but you gonna have to RMA your mobo later when replacement for it is ready. SATA Port 0 and 1 is unaffected by this bug. Other SATA ports will degrade over time.

The tasks are mainly done by processor, not GPU.
So, gaming GPU is enough already.
And also, low end workstation cards have low performance on gaming.
While, high end workstation cards is jawdropping priced.

Nvidia Quadro is going to cost a bomb. These are the prices from C-Zone.

QUADRO 600 512MB RM999
QUADRO 2000 1GB RM2299
QUADRO 4000 1GB RM3999
FX 4800 1.5GB RM6899
FX 5800 4GB RM12229

I would suggest you to stick to my build as low end Quadro is not recommended. There is also CUDA. If your software supports CUDA, you can use GTX460 to accelerate your work. As for the casing, you have plenty of excess budget for it. I suggest you go to the shop and choose it.

not advisible. Custom tax + shipping fee = expensive.

I still remember there was on fella that asked for a recommendation on parts to go in his imported voodoo casing.
If I'm not mistaken, custom want's to tax him around RM1.5k. sweat.gif

From what I usually hear from experts, Quadro cards are mainly used for rendering viewports. It pretty much doesn't make a single difference to your real-time modelling's performance. That's purely the power of the processor. If seeing multiple angles of your device model is important, then yeah, quadro cards may be for you.

Still,, we're talking about a computer. You can upgrade any time you want, that's what's awesome about computers.

A gaming GFX is cheap compared to a workstation GFX, so might as well get a gaming GFX for now and if you don't feel satisfied, get a workstation GFX.

Yes, Workstation GPUs such as Quadro and FirePro GPUs are meant for "Viewports" only as well as some simulations. nod.gif
However, even it's about "Viewports", most 3D Software still aim from CPU > RAM > GPU.
GPU is always the 3rd priority.

Forgot to tell, Workstation GPUs are great in simulating particles. drool.gif
I saw this in some programs like Autodesk Combustion. Yet, don't go crazy with it, you might not using particles at all usually.
