I have heard of YDL 4.0 having "no screens found" problem with Radeon cards only, and they have released a patch for XOrg in YDL 4.0 for that.
Can you please paste out the "/var/log/Xorg.0.log"? I'll try to help. Cheers. |

QUOTE(kimhian @ Jun 16 2005, 01:00 PM) i uninstall n reinstall it again n i configure the display file then again it cant boot it stop at the mount usb disk there then it wont move after config the file then i use startx to test then it in a black screen anyone pls help me I don't get what you're trying to say. Stop at mount usb disk, and since it won't move anymore, how did you use startx? Duh... I'm sure YDL 4 using Xorg anyway. Paste out that Xorg.0.log... Gee... If that USB drive giving you so much problem.. Shut off the USB support in your BIOS first until you have done with the display problem. Cheers. |

So, you mean, startx can display, the background is there, but there's no icon on the screen?
or, you mean, the background is not even there, and the screen is just black? Are you using LCD? I doubt that it's caused by refresh rate... Usually we will start the refresh rate settings at the lowest possible first. Horizontal or Vertical anyway, 70-140... That's a bit high... Default horizontal would be 30-54 and vertical would be 50-70 If the monitor can't display at default refresh, probably we need to do reduce the screen reso. Cheers. |

I suspect its the display driver. I just had the same problem, but Im using AMD Sempron on VIA chipsets. Are you sure using the correct/proper driver?

the workaround to my problem was that, I had to download another additional driver for my VIA chipsets and reboot, and it works!
Try looking in forums for Nvidia display drivers. |
