Any suggestions for a guitarist who wants to learn some bass and looking for a cheaper bass? Checked out a few Yamaha (RBX174, 274 and 374) and Ibanez (GSR200FM, SRX300).

Ask me anything about guitar and I'll know but bass... I'm lost!! smile.gif

I just tested the LTD B50 with a Randall 35W bass amp. The Randall didn't sound too bad considering it's pretty big and quite a large wattage. Only for home practice though cos no way it'll cut it along side a drummer. But the sound, IMHO, can beat the similarly priced Smarvo or Kustom amp...

Price was around RM500 after discount I think and I tried it at Guitar Collection...

Just dropped by Bentley today, and took the chance to check out the new Classic Vibe Squiers. The 50's Tele looked especially sexy, with a Mary Kay blonde finish on the pine body. The grains on the back are quite visible, and with the black guard, I could pretend it's an Esquire. Neck is glossed maple, no sharp fret ends, neck joint was good and tight. It even comes with the brass vintage saddles.

The 50's Strat neck was similar to the Tele, but the trem block was smaller than the pre-06 MIM Strats. Sunburst could be better, as on the upper back contour it was black all over. I didn't touch the 60's much, but I thought the tortoiseshell PG kind of cheap, and the dry rosewood board unappealing, although lemon oil could help.

I didn't test the intonation and sound through the amps as I was in a hurry, but overall, from first impressions, I think Squier hit paydirt with this new line.

They all retail for RM1390, Chinese made.
