Guys,

Is there any specific topic in LYN on effects? E.g. how to get the sound of Tom Morello's solo in Like A Stone, Vai's masterpiece in Ballerina (Passion & Warfare) etc...

I suggest we should have a dedicated topic to discuss on settings of specific songs. If it is already, appreciate if somebody can guide me. TQ

Thanks for guiding me thru' bro biggrin.gif

I've checked the links one by one, but the postings are on the subject of effects, not specifically tailored for specific song. With due respect, I still think it is quite pertinent to have that kinda topic. icon_question.gif

To jumpstart, I would appreciate if somebody could tell me how to get the solo effect on Like A Stone. I reckon it would require some tweaking of your gadgets. Your feedback could be "Set gain level of your distortion to full, cancel feedback on delay, set flanger at 3 o'clock, control your volume pedal periodically bla bla bla...." That's just an example...

Maybe somebody who has spent great amount of time and successfully get the exact tone of Slash could share their settings and/or modifications on their gadgets. Or maybe bro blacktrix aka LYN's vero own Zakk Wylde could share with us his satisfaction for attaining the exact tone & effects of his idol. Who knows? thumbup.gif

Very hard to list down, because all these artists has a combination of different amps, pre-amps, effects, racks of stuff and of course, their own natural talent. Even if we can list down what they use, it'll be even harder to tailor the sound to everyone here, because we all use different equipment. If you like, you can start a thread on your fav musician's gear and see how close we can emulate them......

Welcome to the thread BTW..... tongue.gif

I'll need Zakk or Nick's Brain if I wanted their tone.... It's actually all in their picking technique actually.....

i'm learning scales now but i do have a question n problem:

__i'm practicing (finger 1 fret 1, finger 2 fret 2 ... finger 4 fret 4) ( i dont know what is specific name for this) playing downward. i dont have a problem.
But when trying backward it is harder.
1) so i'm asking the correct techniq to play such a really fast like ~beast n harlot a7x solo~.
2) do we must really plucking for each fret or just hammering? to get fast?

The trick is... practice it slowly and properly until you can play it clean. Then, slowly, increase the speed... It'll take some time, so don't rush things...

And to play fast, you can pick each note or use hammer-on/pull-offs, depending on how the music is written...
