READ THIS! IMPORTANT! Updated 18 Sept 2016
Hi all,
Yes. I am being told that the old guide of this thread is longer valid. I have hide them instead of delete it.
I have the game re-installed, and level up to 110. Im back. Anyhow, its really easy to play wowtaiwan with English nowadays. No longer need to meddle with the game file anymore. Blizzard have listened and make things easy for everyone.
As far as i know, you dont need to register another Taiwan account if you already have US account. Battlenet account can be used for all region. But if you dont have Battlenet account, you may have to. I believe you can register at US and change the region at launcher and play. (please test it out and feedback)
As for how to register, just proceed to the wowtaiwan site and register an ID, then download the US client and install the game. Then use the launcher to change the Region to Taiwan in order to play in English.
As for the guild. The guild is back alive.
Yes, and i still believe wowtaiwan is till one of the best place to play wow due to the low latency (below 100ms from Malaysia) and no need to buy CDkey for every expansion and the possibility to buy game time instead of monthly commitment. *Btw Game time options is still available. This is a correction from my previous quote.

[History of guild]We created this guild since Oct 2010, originally consist of friends and fellow guild members who play at US-Gorgonnash. We have decided to start a new journey at wowtaiwan prior to Wrath of the Lich King expansion in view of the better ping / latency for playing in wowtaiwan as compare with wow US.
http://tw.battle.net/wow/zh/guild/%E6%86%A...er=coffeenotteaGuild Roster consist of players from Malaysian, Singaporean, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Russia, Canadian, Danish, French and British etc
The aim of the guild is to become the best English hub for all English literate wow players to play under one roof, where we provide opportunity of support to raid / better gameplay despite having difficulties with Mandarin, which is the official language of wowtaiwan. Nevertheless, most of the guildmates do understand mandarin as the majority of the members come from Malaysia.
Please do join us or check us out if you want to be part of a guild where guild chat full with English instead of Mandarin. Or if you're like one of them who want to polish your English. Do join us.

Note: Many of the text below was written under the Malaysia context. You may skip directly to the guide section for instructionAlso, here's a few pointers on the benefits of playing over the Taiwan server as compare to the US server.» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
1) There is no need to pay for the CD key, if u are new to WOW and would like to join the party,
there is no entry cost at all, no upfront CDkey, you just need to go over
http://www.wowtaiwan.com.tw/ to register yourself for the trial and start off with 10 days free trial. Once that, you can purchase monthly card, or points card for the game time. Or if u interested for some fast leveling with free experience gain throughout the leveling process, you can get us to sent u a recruit a friend ticket so u can profit from it. For registration guide, see next section.
Note, contrast to US server, in order to play, u need to purchase each of the CD key, WOW Classic, WOW Burning Crusade, WOTLK as well as the coming Cataclysm, which will cost you at least Rm500 to do so.
2) There is also two type of points card for game time in WOW taiwan, one is for monthly, which is RM52 a month, unlimited access, and the other one is RM18 for 30 hours of game time (edited),
flexibility - if u are busy and kind of a casual player, you can then opt for the RM18 game card.
3)
Latency, as we all know, due to the proximity of our country with the US server, Malaysia players always suffer from delay, spike or lagging when playing with US server. Even with the help of tunneling services, which most them require additional cost, the latency after tunneling will be mostly around 400++ (this was before tm with 20MB, now latency for US can be as low as 100-250)
However, with the taiwan server, the latency sustain at around 100++, without tunneling. It will be even lower if u obtain tunneling services.
We all aware of how vital is the upkeep of latency for gaming, latency issues, provide addtional difficulties for wow players to fully maximize their potential in the form of arena's as well as raiding.
4)
No diff - Everything in the taiwan server is the same as the US counterpart except for mostly 1 or 2 days delay in patching new contents or fixes
5)
Competitive - Also, it is a common, mis conception that players in taiwan server is least superior compare to the US counterpart, imo, alot of great players plays in Taiwan server, giving examples such as, Unmercy the rogue, Gameking the mage, they both have accounts in the taiwan server.
Example of playing wowtaiwan using English client, Check out the latency at the bottom left bar Low Latency Here - below 100 ms_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Creating Taiwanese World of Warcraft Account for non Chinese literate - Detail guide» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Merge Battle.net with wowtaiwan» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Notes from Bubu
Firstly, the taiwan's battle.net website is:
http://tw.battle.net/Assume that you have finished waiting for the queue, you either
1) create a new battle.net account if you do not have one
2) merge wowtaiwan into your old battle.net account (Eg: with Starcraft2 or USwow in it)
*For those that are creating a new battle.net account, kindly fill in the forms and required information as this account becomes crucial when
it comes to account protection, as such I recommend that you do not simply fill in randomly (Eg: filling Azeroth as your address etc.) When
you've successfully created an account, now your next step is to merge wowtaiwan into your battle.net account as well.
*In my case and for those who already have an account of their own, it is possible to login to tw.battle.net using us.battle.net's account.
Upon having logged in with ur new / old account, you need to select [merge World of Warcraft account] in the account summary page,
which brings you to this link:
https://tw.battle.net/account/management/wo...conversion.htmlThen,
Select [Taiwan] as your country, and type in your ID and password;
Confirm that you're the sole user, and you will be once again notified that you should
be using same email address you used to login your battle.net account.
After this, I believe you can login and play wow as long as you have game time and the server is on.

1) There is actually ways to play on English client on Taiwan server (
questing text etc and game play with English). Hence, even if you have trouble to converse in mandarin generally or having difficulties understanding the mandarin words, you can always opt for this option.
For instruction, see below.

Getting everything that you need - (only for wowtaiwan using foreign client)
In order to make the installation you will need the following:
1. A NEW European / US client which you can download of the official website !
2. The Font file which u need later.
These are the chinese fonts files for reading / writing
3. And last but not least: A Taiwanese WoW account, Click Here! For the guide !
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here we go! - (only for wowtaiwan using foreign client)
1. install the client of the language of your choice first e.g. English / german / russian.
2. Update your Client to the current version.
You can fill in any random account name and password it will update anyway!
3. Go to your C:/ World of Warcraft Folder .
This path might be different if you install it in a different folder
4. Go into the Data folder, then into the enUS/enGB/frFR/deDe/ruRU folder and open the file realmlist.wtf
sidenote: you can open this file with notepad or word, but make sure it is saved as "wtf" and not doc
5. Change the text inside the file so it looks as the following:
QUOTE
set realmlist tw.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist enUS.patch.battle.net:1119/patch
set realmlistbn ""
set portal tw
then save it.
6. " SET locale "zhTW" " inside WTF\Config.WTF to " SET locale "enUS" "
(WTF folder can be found in your wow folder)
You might want to keep a Copy of the original file since you need these settings if you would like to update your game client to the next version.
Or you can simply changes the lines back the way they were for your country's settings.
7. To See Chinese word with English client, need to download the Font folder.
Download
Location 1Download
Location 2Put the "Font" folder into your World of Warcraft game folder.
8. Go to WTF folder, open config.wtf with notepad and add in the following two sentence into the list and press save.
SET locale "enUS"
SET Portal "TW"
8. Start up the game and see what happens !
(If no WTF folder in your client, see below for further instruction)Important Notes:The instruction given in this thread is to put as following:
QUOTE
set realmlist tw.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist enUS.patch.battle.net:1119/patch
set realmlistbn ""
set portal tw
As u can see, the above allow u to play wowtaiwan, using US client while downloading patch directly through US.
This conveniently allow u to update and continue the game.
However this also result in early updates of patch or hotfix (i think there is some options to disable auto updates)
What i do is, i use the following
QUOTE
set realmlist tw.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist zhTW.patch.battle.net:1119/patch
set realmlistbn ""
set portal tw
When i need to update, i change back the realmlist.wtf
QUOTE
set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist enUS.patch.battle.net:1119/patch
set realmlistbn ""
set portal tw
Usually i just copy and replace.
By doing this, i wont get early updates.
Then, switch back to Taiwan to play.
What if there's no Realmlist.wtf at your client?I'm being advised that there is no realmlist.wtf if download fresh full Mist of Pandaria client
From what I gathered on the net, can try like this.
Do notethat this is experimental. Backup and try @ own risk*Access to config.wtf and paste the followings:
set realmlist tw.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist enUS.patch.battle.net:1119/patch
set realmlistbn ""
set portal tw
Also paste the followings:SET locale "enUS"
SET Portal "TW"
Save and try to play.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
