http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/
UNetbootin allows you to create bootable Live USB drives for a variety of Linux distributions from Windows or Linux, without requiring you to burn a CD. You can either let it download one of the many distributions supported out-of-the-box for you, or supply your own Linux .iso file if you've already downloaded one or your preferred distribution isn't on the list.

I expect that you alerady know how to make Ubuntu Live USB drive. Boot as usual and select try ubuntu on pc option. There is an install shortcut that you just need to double-click and follow further instruction.

No idea. U are using old 8.04 LTS hardy. The latest one is 8.04 service pack 3. try latest ubuntu 8.10 ibex, 9.04 jaunty or 9.10 karmic or notebook remix version.

You need either ttf-arphic-uming or ttf-arphic-ukai or both as the font.
As for input you need to install scim and scim-pinyin.

You can do it in synaptic.

Just to point out there's RealPlayer for linux as well. Just in case the above solutions don't work for you.
