I've been searching high and low for this, but couldn't find any solution. My Sony CDA-CA750X has a Bus Audio In.

I tried to connect my iriver mp3 to the bus audio in. problem is i can't select Audio In mode. Only FM and CD mode is selectable. Anybody know how to override this, so that i can select Bus Audio In Mode? (that means try to fool the head unit thinking that the MP3 player is actually a CD-Changer or MD)

Refer Image for illustration.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Also, in the manual it says "This unit cannot be connected to a digital preamplifier or equalizer" .. does it mean i can't add preamp?

Thanks.

ok thanx. anyway , preamp is my last option. If i'm not mistaken, the player already has a preamp built-in.

prefer to find ways to connect mp3 player straight to the unit, since it already has an audio in. just need to find ways to hack it.. any help would be appreciated!

even u connect the mp3 player line out to the bus line in, u still wont be able to turn on the function..

there is a function to turn on the aux in...but, u need to connect the bus line out to some signal to tell the hu there is something connected and the aux in will be available in the function..

conclude:
if u just connect hu line in to the mp3 line out, u will definitely wont able to hear the sound because the hu haven turn on the function..and to turn on the function, u need to make the hu to sense the device..

older model of panasonic (made in japan) has 1/4 size aux input in front of the panel
i saw a few still being sold brand new at shops
i think for your case, this type of aux-in HU is the one you should look for
easier to plug. unplug your portable player

cant you source sony xa-300 adapter locally?
thats the easiest solution for your case

the mod youre talking about will be too troublesome
you need to design a device that acts as a mock changer in between you sony HU and aux source - sony unilink and signal at the inputs, then outputs to iriver
were talking about a circuit designing here
plus where are you going to get the unilink bus connector here?
but if youre up for it
try to email this guy - matt dralle
dralle@matronics.com
hes been playing with sonys and unilinks for years
his effort -

howiechoo, you're right, it would be worthless trying to mod the HU. I'm not even a pro to do this.

malutapimau, thanx for the info, i think XA-300 is the only solution. I'll try to look for it in KL. listed price USD 99, so here should be around the same. If you know a place, kindly direct it for me.

mm they FM modulator i saw from "ViewNet" comes with the line in features " works like a AUX " but then it uses Radiowave to transmit the signals or data. so the quality is not as good as the original AUX connection . but then it will definitely solve your problem.

all you need is the audio cable which connect your DELL Axim and the FM Modulator . that cable wont cost you more then RM 10 i guess. you can even DIY your self if you have does un wanted headsets smile.gif

hope it helps smile.gif for those expert out there please correct me if i am wrong hehehe tongue.gif

cheers smile.gif

there is another FM modulator which doesnt need USB pen drive at all, just connect your laptop voice output to the modulator, and tune the frequency. tat's it .. just plug and play , the wire is included with the modulator , it cost you less than rm30.

guys, need your advice on this.

1) Im driving a manual Kancil & kinda interested to buy a FM Modulator to hear MP3 from my thumb drive since my CD player doesn't support MP3. But the problem is I dont know what's the real size of this FM modulator & after plugging in my thumb drive, I worry I might not be able to shift to the third & fifth gear as Kancil is a very small car.

2) Where to buy FM Modulator & how much?

Thanks.
