How do I root my device?
There are many guides out there. Here are a few of them:Where can I get these custom ROMs?
QUOTE(benny888)
Just go over to forum-xda. HTC Desire section http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=628 - rom discussion here. Roms are free - but you are encourage to donate if you can, to the rom cook. If you don't want to donate , you can still download and there is no limit how many times you can download. If you want special preconfigure roms up to your own choices - try Modaco at http://android.modaco.com/category/430/htc...ire-modaco-com/ . you need to pay a small contribution once only - with this you can use his online kitchen to bake any rom for any phone that he'd developed; again no limitation
If i root my Desire, can i unrooted back to stock rom, where can i get exactly the stock rom as i have right now.
QUOTE(maliqu3)
Download the stock rom for HTC Desire from here to unroot your phone so that you can claim the warranty after that.
Is my warranty will void if i root? do i need to unroot if i need to send the HTC Service Center?
QUOTE(maliqu3)
Rooting your Desire won't void your warranty (you must have faith about the warranty though) since it's not NexusOne that will leave a trace (an unclasped lock) even if you have unrooted back.
How do I check my current radio version?

The announcement so far is only for Euro set, as for Asian set, we'll have to wait.

i guess i have to paste the comment again then....

While sja2 bumping my post, i can tht i didnt regret buying a desire. Currently at starbucks typing with it happily and importantly with ease....damn i love typing using this...just wondering how can i turn off the predictive text while messaging? Cuz i usually msg in malay n its way to troublesome....hehe...and pliz ans my question above too....thnx!

Oh no wait ignore the Q above, all i want to know is customizing widgets n apps, and state which need to be rooted or not.

Another q is, would it be good to root now? Cuz.i.heard 2.2 is coming very2 soon....or is it not.troublesome at all? Cuz my idea is to root then customize the homescreen. Should i wait or just do it now? I can still keep all my modified stuffs after updating right?

EDIT : just got back, got a question again, or maybe an opinion, i went there with 100% of charge, then use full 2 hours of wifi, browsing non stop, even downloading apps, and done some sms'ing. all settings are on(wifi, 3G and some other fancy widgets, and now i have around 40%. is it a good sign?

first day of use, can last around couple of hours only just by playing around(well you know a new toy... ), then this morning, 4 hours using wifi, 1 hour of standard use, then phone died. meaning 5 hours. now, 1 hour of standard use, 2 hours of wifi, in 3 hours got 40%. i think its good eh? and i have this feeling with 40% it'll last longer this time.

Yeah..there are PLENTY of retailer selling Ori Desire..Don't think those are Maxis sets..
*
but dun think those units are europe units right?
i mean can u check the model number or firmware to determine what unit u having?

QUOTE(AskarPerang @ Jul 31 2010, 09:14 AM)
Exclusive sold by maxis only for the first few weeks after launching in m'sia.
Should be 1 month period for maxis but retailers start selling ori sets even before that.

Many other retailers selling original set now.
But now why wanna get from maxis unless you want to take their plan and tied down with a contract with them.
*
err,i think i nvr ask ppl go for maxis set right?
but ya,is ur choice..

Hi I have a question for all Desire users...
Does everyone has the issue with gray color displayed as pink on the Desire?

And does anyone know if OTA update for FroYo is going to happen in S.E.A?

Thanks
