jalan pasar, you wouldnt miss the god darn YELLOW signboard of fluke there, seems like authorised distro.

Another cheaper way is to get them from OTUSIDE of malaysia.

Frankly, Fluke is way overpriced here and don't listen to hype. If anyone is just starting out, a RM100+ Sanwa digital meter would suffice your needs. Me, an old cock at this have survived through the decades with 2 Sanwa meters, one analog type and only lately the digital model.

Excellent advice here..

I have a Fluke and that has given me all sorts of troubles. ohmy.gif

I have however seen imitation Sanwa analog meters... and so, perhaps one should be careful where you buy from!

I second this. With a decent Sanwa, even if you happen to have some cash lying around, you're better off investing into quality PSUs, Signal generators, and OSKs instead. If you really want something high end to measure stuffs, get a bench meter instead.

EDIT:

OH and guys, I'm itching to build Millett Starving Student Point to Point but i have no idea where to get the Tubes cheap. Can i has help?

good news guys, I just heard from Naaman today. He told me the beta22 made it back to him.

The delivery was attempted at my address on the 17th and 18th of May. I was in, so was everyone else, and no one came to my door on that date. Moreover, no 'while you were out cards' were left for me.

I was quite disappointed not having picked up this amp on the first attempt shipping it. That means that I would've lost USD 135 for the first shipping attempt, because it's non-refundable seeing that they attempted delivery, albeit failing at finding my address.

It could be a blessing in disguise because I was told that if I should receive the amp on the 17th/18th May, I would have to be liable for GBP 188 in taxes (about RM 1,000) which is an INSANE amount.

So now we're sending it again. Yes by USPS, no tracking, to a London address. Hopefully I get it this time! We're gonna declare it at $650, insured at $650 and have it as "Warranty/Repairs".

All good I hope, fingers crossed!

I suggest for you to start small.

Headphone amps are easier to stat from as power levels are quite low.

BTW, anyone ever heard of using a triac to perform PWM at the AC level ? tot of it as something interesting to experiment.
