I know there are switches out there where by one can set it to switch on/off at certain times.

But I am looking for a switch whereby once I turn it on, it will off it by itself say 1 or 2 minutes later on.

Is there any?

there's on and off switch but from my personal experience, the switch will still use your electric for 24/7 even if you just setting it on for 1 hour or 15 minutes .. .. i think it depends, as you only seek for 1 or 2 minutes switch, only digital switch can do that .. ( i think )

That's not what I am looking for.

You know in those steamer (or old type of microwave oven) whereby you can rotate the timer switch so that the steamer is switched on for 5 mins, or 10 mins?

Just go to any lighting shops and ask for sensor lights. These lights will lit up if it sense movement and the duration may be from a few seconds to a few minutes (adjustable).

The switch is intended to be used on a food disposal whereby I just need to switch it on 30 secs to 2 minutes each time. Motion sensor does not work for me.

Attach your main on/off circuit to a 220v/240v contactor with an industrial timer. Industrial timers can work from a large range of timing, buy the type which you need, 0-15 mins or 0-30 mins for your application. After some simple rewiring, it a cheap and effective solution probably cost you less than RM50, any electrician worth it's salt can do it for you. Press on button, contactor kicks in, power your equipment and timer starts, once timer is completed, contactor release and equipment stops.

I wonder why it is so difficult for you to get such timer.
all hypermarket has it.. and sometimes, it is sold in pasar malam too..
hypermarkets got digital switch, and analog one. The analog switch is more appropriate to your need because it's a countdown timer. I think, it cost around rm12..
