QUOTE(sfchung @ Nov 18 2011, 08:22 PM) Brother, my BH is almost the same design as yours. 1.3 yrs. 90nests. Yours can do better. i suggest: do not partition too much first. for the highest floor, open up a door size entrance on the further side. close up the window entrance on the nearer side. door size entrance block bottom up 2 feet to avoid floor reflection. width size not more than 3 feet.

Yesterday, a local buyer was commenting on my postings of the better selling price on the forum. He told me that the buyers will push the price further down everytime I mentioned of a higher price and worst of it, they will boycott buying my nests.
I told him, so be it but what I am asking is a fair price for all and not to cause hardship to anyone. How he know that I posted it isn't important but whether by my postings do affect your selling of nests?
He mentioned that the price has drop to Rm1800/Kg and I told him that if he is sellings now, I will buy all his nests, @ RM1800/Kg and keep all the nests in the chiller. As a buyer and a many BHs owner, he must has 200 hundreds Kg with him.

From rm4400 to rm1800, that is about 60% drop in prices. Way too low. Why dont these middlemen Be considerate abit? at least rm3k above at the moment lah. Why offer so low? Next time if got chinaman offer higher, i guess i rather sell to chinaman instead of local guys.

Really, don't sell low even if you are scare to keep the nests. Maybe, the price will drop but the chances of it going up is higher than it going down but if all sell low, then no buyer will pay high for your nest even though the market continue to improve.
If the time come that nobody want birdnests, then why bother to keep BH anyway..sell your BH and keep your money in Bank. I am not scared but rather feeling positive about the whole affair.
Although, I sold all my nests and the next harvesting is afew months time, I will like to see that friends here get good price for their nests. Everything increase didn't we notice except the EBN that are much lower than years ago when we sold at Rm6400 at its height.
Those were the good old days and I will hope that in near future, we will surpass that figure of Rm6400/Kg....providing that we didn't allow the buyers to drag us by the nose. We will negotiate but will never bow down to pressure from someone trying to make hugh profit out of us...like the farmers who plant and sweat on his field to earn so little but the middlemen earn many times more.
That's my ambition and hope we share these, too.

Some middlemen make much much more by adulterating our raw EBN, and in the past, turning them into 'Red' nests and causing all this trouble. Why should the farmers bear the lower prices whilst the middle men take the majority of the profits. I have not harvested since CNY

Was about 9gms each now about 12gms each so I'm not losing but the price for multi storey nests are actually lower, so back to square one This post has been edited by tuckfook: Nov 21 2011, 11:06 PM

here i think a strong message is nest is a time proved product. the demand will be high when the hard time over. No panic and patient. is that possible we can have something like direct to the consumer. i means we can sell directly to the consumer when there is a situation like this ??? maybe we can discuss this..

I have not harvested since CNY That's the cold hard fact, no matter what industry you in the raw material supplier/farmers always get the short end of the stick. That's why for those that have the resource and capability, they become middleman or retailer because they make the most $$$ and set the prices. Furthermore there is no fixed exchange for BN unlike palm oil, iron, copper etc the middleman can always band together and squeeze us dry.

I remembered that I had only approximately 2600 nests and didn't visit the BH for over 6 months and when a BH buyer came alone to buy the BH, I just quoted Rm1.7M and they confirmed it immediately. I was the fool for not counting the nests before I sold the BH and they counted the nests to be more than 4K nests. Although, then I could just refused to sell but then as a businessman and a man of honor, a golden handshake is an agreement.......but then luck still with me as I never regret that I sold the only BH that I have then as I wasn't interested in expending my fortune in the trade, and they gave me a reason to expand. I never anticipated that I can have such huge gain over 6 months period......so, maybe, you will have good fortune, too as kind men like us do have such fortunate blessing from GOD. Hope to hear good news in a few months time.
