Broadband provider TM streamyx ISP/package: 1mbps Location: shah alam Have you called your ISP's helpline?: have not
Personal equipment Modem: D-Link 2640B Wireless G ADSL2+ / Router Firmware : as shown by default it is 1.00 SEA (dated 20/9/2009 so I suppose this is the latest) Firewall used: Norton Antivirus Internet Security 2010
Problem details
Well, I just bought this adsl router last nite to have wireless connection in my house. I have been using DLink DSL 500T (a normal wired adsl router).
My internet connection shouldnt have any problems because my DSL500T can connect just fine. the config is so easy to follow as well, setup wizard for 2640b is so confusing i feel like shiit although there are only 4 steps, but have to provide technical infos as well....pffft!!!!
So I setup the network config the 1st time, I thought Step-By-Step should be easy, so I followed... and the setup was pretty normal
Set timezone, Connection type, but I have issues with :-
Connection Type : PPPoE ... LLC
then got VPI value VCI value needs to be set, I mean like why can't all these be configured automatically? how about someone who doesnt know any craps about networking!? so, to find out, I switched back to old router and it shows -> VPI = 0 VCI = 35
n that's it... I cant connect to the internet, only LAN connection from the UTP cable.. i dono wtf went wrong, if step by step should suffice, then why am I having problem connecting to the internet? all LED was fine, DSL LED ok, Ethernet ok, only Internet gateway doesnt lit.
account/password i manually input...shudnt be a prob, also cant. internet gateway shows nothing. Im really really pissed as i really need to have wireless conn urgently at home.
I diagnosed with Vista, it says problem in getting DNS blabla thing...what should I do? let me know what infos I need to be telling for u guys to help.
thanks for reading , thanks in advance for the help people.
Added on April 8, 2010, 3:45 pmAdds : Just in case if you would want to know, I have set the network properties to obtain DNS automatically.
