.ace - WinACE, official way

.rar/.r01/.r##/.part01/.part##/.001 - If you find a directory with a bunch of files ending in .R##, it's a RAR archive split into multiple parts. This is commonly done for posting to Usenet newsgroups. Open the .RAR file and extract the contents with WinRAR
.zip

CD or DVD Image [ Software list for these type of files: CD / DVD Image Loaders ]

.avi - it is a container, may contain various codecs, use GSpot to see what codec is used
.dat - usually VCD encoded MPEG

.ram - Real Player (audio)
.rm/.rmvb - use Real Player 10 or install Real Alternative (don't install both, not recommended)
.m4a - use iTunes, foobar2000

.mpeg/.mpg - if MPEG2, need to install MPEG2(SVCD) decoder, Elecard is a good one
.vob (DVD) - use WinDVD, PowerDVD

.NFO - open the NFO file in Notepad, or any plain-text editor, DAMN NFO Viewer - Credit to Jimbitz

it is bitcomet extension - indicating the file haven't finished downloaded yet

for example, aaa.mpg is temporary renamed to aaa.mpg.bc! when the download is still in progress

of course you can disable this option in bitcomet if you want

I've download a program(games) with those extension. How to run the program? Other than 3 files with the mentioned ext., there is a *.nfo file. Please help. TQ.

if is .rar use Winrar to run it,
if is CD Image such as .bin .cue...

.avi is a container
You can use G-spot to detect what codec the file is using and download the appropriate codec so that your player can view it

You can also find some codec packs such as K-lite, it works in most cases

I've downloaded some e-books.
There are some files with *.pdb extension.
I searched at filext and it said that it may be palm pilot database.
Can anyone tell me how to open the file on desktop computer?

I've juz downloaded a movie from the web and i got 3 files inside the folder.
A .avi file, a .idx file and a .sub file. Anyone know how to open this file ? I use wmp and BSplayer also cannot. What program do i need to use ?
