I think Blizzard will have some rather strict QC measures when it comes to bots et al.

As far as attitudes are concerned, i think the RM50 (guessing here) a month fee should do much to filter out kiddies?

good to see SEA getting its own server for such a prestigious online game...
but i doubt that the community here will make the in-game experience a pleasant one...

Has anyone tried playing other MMORPG's based in Singapore before? I remembered a friend saying that the lag was pretty bad when he was playing some online game, but this is pure hearsay.

Also, I'm not sure about our ISP's link to Singapore, last time traceroutes used to show our hops running elsewhere (US, etc etc) rather than direct down south, I wonder if that's still the case nowadays?

I don't think any of you should hold your breathes regarding the monthly fee steering away immature (mentality or age) players. If they are willing to blow on cybercafes and RO top up cards, they will certainly spend on WoW.

As for the so-called "QC" of Blizzard, I suppose bots willl be non-existent as the WoW engine is better built compared to RO.
HOWEVER, in the sense of server downtime, lag, and 'troublesome' players, it's all about the SEA management team. In this case iGamesAsia Pte Ltd and money-minded Ricky Lim and gang would have to be up to par with the US management and technical team, which I highly doubt they can.

As it is, current WoW players would know about the MAJOR server problems that WoW US is having. Imgaine, the creators themselves are already having trouble managing thier servers, what more a small tiny company trying to juggle the WHOLE of Southeast Asia.

Nonetheless...we still hope for QUALITY above all else.

Are the current Msian (or Asian) players in the US servers stirring up any trouble yet?

I don't think the RM50 monthly fee would filter out the kiddies or immature players from WoW SEA servers. If I'm not mistaken, RO players are required to pay about the same amount of monthly fee (I'm not a RO player). Therefore, I doubt that the RM50 monthly fee would filter out the kiddies or immature players from WoW SEA servers sad.gif

Bully the new guys who really messing up other people is good but dont to that to those who really want to play.......

to compare wow and ro, in term of server we cant really say wow will become like ro "LAG" waw will most propably use alot of server and have limit to all their server. and there is no vending needed in this game cos u will send ur item in auction house. this wat ro dun have. when people vending they tend to leave thier character on the server the whole tiem, if every one who can do vending do this, the server will full of vendor with AFK on the head. This also contribute to LAG.

im still new to wow and right now playin in wow eu, i can say there is no lag at my current connection. Even my latency always red but no lag at all. i not yet to xperience the server full with people but so far it's ok.

RO players pay RM38 a month (at the most) and some complain it's very expensive.

Don't forget you have to pay for WoW client as well (if u play at homelah).

Of course having said this, like you said, there are those immature of mind and not age. Poor sporting spirit irritates me particularly.

That is the ilk of RPGs todaylah. Americans also have their moments but mainly because more kids have access to these games today (and rednecks!).

These things rarely happened when this aunty was playing Asheron's Call last time!!

Not meaning to be rude but you will still have to pay for the key which ties in with your account. So there will still be the initial cost of the game if you intend to play at home or not.

As for the mentality of the local community when it comes to mmorpgs, you STILL have the option to play on US servers or local servers.

But we will have to wait and see about the management team that will be handling the servers. Especially the GM's. No point having an efficient in-game bug/abuse reporting system if the GM's don't act on it.

The SEA version of WoW would most likely require the purchase of a SEA client, or at least a new CD-KEY like in Korea. I'd be surprise if it didn't knowing the track record of Blizzard and SMM. So what are the plus and minus points of playing WoW on SEA for those who sneaked into the NA servers?

The only plus point I would see is the hopefully lower ping, after weeks of putting up with a 500+ ping that goes into the 4 digit areas on bad nights (those of you who say ping doesn't matter in an MMORPG, sorry but it does for most classes in WoW, if not all of them).

GM support is also key, but I doubt that the regional GM's will be any better than the NA GM's, who are currently mediocre at best.

Community is not a huge factor as idiocy knows no nationality. Would rm50 filter out the immature kiddies? Doubt it, as there are plenty of rich idiots out there as well, just take a look at our roads. There is the draw of being able to PvP local guilds though.

Not to say that I wouldn't pick up SEA WoW when it comes out. Q3 is still months away and I might pick it up again and start afresh after my current NA sub expires. WoW is still a good game after all.

The problem will prolly exist anywhere (there are still e-baying regardless blizzard policy and warning about those selling things in WoW for real money) the only difference is that our MMORPG-ers community might be more serious when it comes to those due to some MMORPGs which let them do so without even trying to control. (You know which one I'm talking about lar)

There will probably be a beta test before the official launch (they need to STRESS TEST their servers). We can play the beta test then and later decide... Whether to leave NA and join local SEA servers.

If you ask me now, I'll stay on the NA servers... Cause already have some friends there plus some high level characters... It's not easy to leave your 'effort'.

But it's Q3... Who knows what will happen then... Maybe expansion already launched... Maybe new game already out... Maybe got alien invading Earth... laugh.gif

Well not much i'd say but there is something to be take note of. Most china guys playing the English version of WoW, do not understand English. So quests are pointless and they cannot communicate with other players. What they do is just pure farming. And when they farm and farm and farm, excessive golds start to pile up. What they will do with the money? You can already guess it wink.gif

Btw, I'm the guy who playing WoW at the LanParty (the one sitting near the doorway to the NFSU section). You and another big guy (Malay or Indian?) chat with while watching me playing. smile.gif
