most of the photos are a bit under exposure.

white balance not properly set?

PP can help the results sometimes.

you should number them for easier commenting.

generally all pictures are not good. best picture is the last one, the clock........... BUT you need to improve the angle a bit.

1st pic clearly taken when dim light, either morning or evening. either way no subject. just DOF of leaves.

2nd pic, i think good try but background too distracting. generally it is a subject lost. good attempt.

3rd pic absolute fail. no subject. nothing on focus. no idea what you're showing.

4th pic idea is there but poorly executed.

5th pic nothing special. furthermore the flash was harsh. ugly in the end.

6th pic idea is there, need to work on angle or find a better CLOCK to do that. smile.gif

you should join our gathering. biggrin.gif

oh, i just realize you're in the USA now. smile.gif

nevertheless good attempts, all your shots - the area has potential, you just need to learn your 18-55 and 55-250 and how to make it work for you. biggrin.gif

your shot

#1 was using 18-55 kit lens - snap portrait instead of landscape to show more of the leaves would be interesting, then leading to the background.

#2 was using 18-55 as well. should've used 55-250 for that shot, then it'll isolate the background better cos you can have wider aperture at 55 and zoomable. smile.gif

#3 again, use the 55-250 at 55mm would be better, use it at widest aperture. can change angle also.

#4 18-55 was used i can see, but again it's all about angle. maybe not the best flower to shoot. smile.gif you can even do it top down if you want. biggrin.gif flowers you need to understand where's their beauty and what angle to take, then considering the background AND composition.

#5 - no need to say la......... BUT that closeness is nice actually.

#6 - 18-55 at 18mm. you should try zoom futher on that one. smile.gif it'll actually look nicer, then focus on the number and such.

*note : i don't see any 55-250 IS shots here, if they were - they're probably all done at 55mm tongue.gif examining your photos i see many of them are at 55mm f5.6 which is capable of both lens.

you should consider using Av mode instead, set to widest aperture.

auto white balance means the machine will choose / decide the exposure for the result.
I don't use auto...oways ruin my shots.

PP = Post processing (any software will do and photoshop is one of it).

My advice to you is, plan your shoot...think wat u want to shoot first rather than simply click on the shutter.

happy shooting

put it this way
if sunny day, use day light WB
if cloudy day, user cloudy WB

there is also 2 tricky WB settings (fluorescent and tungsten). Try them out when you are shooting indoor.

better a bit. smile.gif just need to be selective on your background and subject. shots need to brighten a bit.

use Av mode easiest la. no need to go until manual mode.
