yupe, this is the one i mention early..

Unbelievable sound quality. This set is more focus on vocal.

Beside that i also manage to visit his friend's Hi Fi showroom in Miri to test out some China made Amp & Player, very popular in europe but forgotten the name alreadi. They match it with ProAc spk (arround 15K).

one word - cun...

offtopic - read if u choose to laugh.gif : about the sound damping issue in the speaker, has anone try to modify their speaker build?? I mean inside the satelites and the sub-woofer.
I have modded my satellites for R501 and soon going for my sub-woofer.

I have changed the cabling inside and replace the small chunk of wool to some sound damping sponge... It improve the satelite sound quite a bit..

Currently researching around to see whether I can change the preamp or the IC in the sub to a better 1 inorder to resolve the known sound cracking issue of Edifier R501...

Currently use the speaker to listen to music so surround is not much of a choice for me so I just place all my 5 satellites infront sweat.gif sweat.gif

picture will be up later.

The cracking issue with the R501 is actually a design choice rather than flaw. You see, the R501 has its built-in amp turned up higher than it should be. This is to facilitate the speakers use with low-end home theatre systems that sometimes have very low volume outputs. So, this causes small problems when used with PCs as sound cards have amps of their own and this will push the threshold of the R501 over the limit at high volumes.

An issue? Yes, but its because the R501 is targeted at a different demographic which is the home theatre/hi-fi users and not computer users.

This I understand and thanks for your detail explaination. I choose to do so because hoping to change the so call 'issue' in order to suite my pc rather then my home theater system.
I understand that the sound card will push the speaker threshold but if I change the preamp, I might able to use the full ability of my speaker ..ic.. tweaking the treble and bass to higher level without the cracking sound.
