its how ur network responds to problems..lets say...when one of the nodes break and how will ur network handle the problem and ensure that the network can still function properly..even with such errors...

an example is TIME CPCS...they have 5 possible routes in the penisular alone...and even if one breaks...it can still function though some extra delay could be felt..

this question looks like its for homework...

VPN has many routes right?

lol....VPN is VPN...fault tolerance is another thing...they are not even close..think of it this way..
fault tolerance is how much ur network can tahan occurring failures..lets say for example..if one router dies, if the end users also get disconnected..it can be said that ur network is not fault tolerant..but if the end users can still connect even though slower..it can be said that ur network is fault tolerant.

VPN is a different story...i wont go there..

of coz u have to repair the failed node...but at least ur network can still function if one node fails..
