I use Auslogics Disk Defrag. Much faster than windows' very own Disk Defragmenter. rclxms.gif
I only defrag once in a few months.

I don't really defrag my computer coz I have read somewhere on the net that it slows down your HDD. It doesn't really made any difference on my computer anyway.

If you want to clean your HDD, CCleaner does the job pretty well.
However, if you still insist on defragging your HDD, don't do it too often. For me, once in 6 months is enough.

You're right on that. Defrag only when your HDD is slowing down and not when it's working well.

most of the times, it will slightly slow down ur hdd.

reason: Windows has a prefetcher that optimizes every apps that you load. after defrag, the prefetcher need to refresh again.

Isn't cleaning up the prefetch folder helps?

QFT, and I seriously think that defragging your HDD once a week is way overkill. Unless of course you fill it with tonnes of data over that short period. Then again, the average user can hardly use more than a couple of GB per week, discounting downloads, which people generally use externals for.

I have 2 HDDs and I've been using Windows 7 for more than a month. Alot of file being transfered here and there but so far Windows say no need to defrag.
