your arms and limbs are fat. just that u don't realise it. try comparing ur arm with a dude that has abs. You can literally see the shape and curves on his arm( eventhough he's skinny like hell the muscle curves are still visible) whereas you cant see urs--even if you do lotsa biceps workout. You'll just c one big lump of mass--no shape

Low muscle mass. Build more muscle overall.

Dealing with core issues (i.e. mental and emotional outlook), diet (watch those carbs that are going to convert into fat) and exercise.

This is one of the exercises I'm currently doing to help with my L5/S1 disk herniation problem that I had since Aug 09. I started this exercise about 3 weeks ago along with other stretching exercises. Took about a week to get enough strength just to stand. And now doing the horse stance/table top stance to build up my core abdomen muscles that helps to support the back.

The interesting thing is that I've lost fat and build muscles that the top half of my body above the hip has shrunk from a size 16 to a size 12.

That horse stance exercise is a damn pain to do when one has a back problem. But after doing it, I can feel that my back is a lot stronger and my stomach is getting a hell lot leaner than I expected.

What the guy in the youtube doesn't say is that one must be kinda like Donald Duck with the bum sticking out slightly, neck is straight, shoulders relax and not hunch. Then hold your belly button in AND Kegel while lifting.

I can only do this on an AIREX exercise mat though. The cheap ones are painful on my hands and knees. The AIREX ones cost over RM300 though but worth it.

Because of my back problem, I now have to suck in my belly button and Kegel whenever I get up from a sitting position. So it indirectly makes my core muscles a lot stronger.

I also get the feeling that this exercise may be better than doing crunches for people with back problems.

why?
because of genetic predisposition. fats is lost faster at the periphery than at the trunk.

how?
a slightly bulging tummy may mean that there is lack of tone of abdominal and back muscle. workup involving abdomen is needed. try the push up position but with the elbow touching the ground and keep the back straight and maintain the position as long as possible. if the muscle is strong one can hold the position for 2 minutes. if feel pain in neck or back means the posture is wrong.
