better ms client & linux server if you shared only game file, try wine if you want to have game console running on your server.

most people want to run away from CALs and your direction seems meanless because linux server is powerful but desktop still need time.

agree with NoPurpose... use linux for servers and windows for clients... linux can handle servers much more better than windows.... and playing games which is still an issue in terms of compatibility in linux can be fixed with windows.....

Doesn't matter if windows as a server and ubuntu as client or viceversa. If windows as a server, so ubuntu should connect as a samba client and use wine for install game base on windows platform. If ubuntu as a server then, ubuntu should create as a samba server,so that windows are able to connect to ubuntu sever.

So, no problemo reberto. Just pickup uncle google to ride.

* note that, not all game that base on windows platform are supported by wine. This because some dll, active X not install or other function inside windows is not configure properly. Maybe soon or later. Give some support to wine team laa....

just like some of the guys said, the best way is linux as server and windows as client. just fire up samba and share those folders. this way can saved up on the ms server license. though i dont really sure about the games services stability issues and if the games you have can be run on console or not.
