It's most probably EMI leakage. Happened to me before on my old P4 3.0HT. Whenever I load it 100% there will be a high pitch whine. How I know? Cos I used the pc to process raw photos to jpeg, and there is an interval between each photo from low to high load (cpu needs to open each raw file, process then compress to jpeg, then write to disk, then start over).

Everytime it runs from low to full load, I hear the high pitched whine. I thought my pc gonna explode lol smile.gif

I suspect it's the mobo caps causing the sound. Solution? Change to C2D LOL smile.gif

CPU / Processor won't make any sound...
Its the capasitors / coils / mosfet surrounding the CPU socket area making high pitch sound or squealing when on heavy load..
As TS mentioned, this sound comes out when on load...

@TS, why open 2 threads ???
