i think bokeh should be one of the main factor too..but of coz..there r people who doesnt like bokeh
alot people get dslr n produces sharper n higher resolution images..but sadly..alot of them dont understand that sharp+high resolution does not equal to "high quality"...
[/off topic]
@ShenWoo
my own definition for bokeh means the quality of the blurred/OOF area...no doubt tilt shift creates blur background..u can create it in photoshop..or even use the alienskin bokeh filter to create bokeh as someone mentioned on top...it'd be blurred..but it wouldnt look too good/natural...

You have a point there too.
I believe other people are entitled to different opinions. biggrin.gif

It's just a factor for you to purchase your DSLR.
It's not the main reason people buy DSLRs. I believe that people mainly buy DSLRs for better quality images. biggrin.gif
Just my 2 cents.

yes, thats what i was thinking before,
but now still considering FF for beautiful DOF its produce,
it's a total lie if someone who buy DSLR just to adore its sharpness, colour and image quaility but not the bokehness within tongue.gif
if so the f1.8, f1.4, even f1.0 cant sell well like they do now wink.gif

I'm just a student.
FF is definitely out of reach.
If I want "bokeh", I'll go for a budget lens like the 50mm F1.8, biggrin.gif

I was referring to myself (a poor student).
So yes, I would be more than happy/grateful to have a lens that can do "bokeh". biggrin.gif

the 50mm f1.8 sure give you enuff bokeh but the sharpness have to give way,
maybe due to the glass quality and material used, but its okay la for the price thumbup.gif
prefer 50mm f1.4 for better image quality tho

i am on nikkor lense and i cant tell u about canon's biggrin.gif
but the build material for 50f1.4 is way better than 50f1.8 thus making a huge price different,
let alone the sharpness, the bokeh is nicer in 50f1.4,
but i like the not so new 35mmf1.8, its a combo of sharpness and bokeh thumbup.gif

Yea, man.
Same concept applies to Canon.
The 50mm F1.4 from Canon has much better bokeh/construction than the 50mm F1.8 but the price is also very different. tongue.gif

Of course, the 50mm f/1.4 has 8 aperture blades compare to 5 on the f/1.8. The 50mm f/1.8 gives weird pentagon-shaped highlight spots which is a tad too disgusting to me.

Yeap. I haven't had a full hand-ons with the 50mm F1.4 and the 50mm F1.8 though so I can't comment much. blush.gif

i just got myself the f1.4..i would say..if u hands on testing the f1.8..u wont want it...unless u really got no money...but for me is..i want a lens which can last me at least longer time...so build quality need to be better... well..cant compare with sigma...but compare with the price...

so if u ask me to get f1.8 version..seeing the built quality...i think i spend more and get f1.4...

u need to balance urself with price vs quality lo...

It's not that I got no money now.
I've got money but I don't wanna spend on 50mm F1.4, like I said, I've got other priorities in life.
Currently just playing/learning with my 18-55 IS + 55-250 IS. biggrin.gif
