After contemplating for so long, I've decided to get Canon 500D with dual lens kit in the next 24 hours.

Any last words or advice?

What do you think about dual lens kit compared to single kit lens package?

Any particular steps to do when I first get my DSLR?

I may still change my mind..sigh I'm fickle minded.

I'm actually buying in Singapore. There's a dual lens kit available here. 18-55 and 55-250. Is it better to buy dual lens this way?

Best advice i can give is to enjoy your camera to the fullest. Don't sweat the petty things and just keep taking pictures, the more you take the better you get, the more you see the better you get and above all, the less you have the better you get.

But here's a few fast tips that'll help you.

1. You get what you pay for. Pay for shit, get shit.

2. Don't post every one of your pics in LYN lah. If you know it's an ugly pic, spare mah effin eyes and don't post it unless you really need help.

3. If you need to post shit pic, don't be pretentious enough to blardy watermark it with your name on it. Seriously lah, nobody has enough bad taste to steal them.

4. If you keep worrying about not destroying your camera, it will generally sit and take no awesome shots. Take precautions, but take risks.

5. Half the battle of taking pretty pictures is knowing what pretty pictures are. eg; If you want to shoot street pics, browse through Magnum, NatGeo or AP's photo archives

6. A camera is like a rifle, you can put all manner of shit on it, from flashes, L brackets, wireless triggers and so on. Customize the camera to suit your needs. Eg; If you're going to MF, get a custom focusing screen. If you take camera near water, a roll of duct tape is good.

7. Visualize Everything. Take a context, put in your head and go out there and take a pic of it. If it doesn't exist, make it exist.

8. I'm still figuring this one out.

Yeah. I find it sad that hardly anyone takes the extra mile to get a good shot these days.

Not asking people to do a Robert Capa and get blown up by a landmine, but i'm quite sad that newbies aren't as adventurous these days. Plus the ingrained idea of "DSLR = Wonderful pix!"

Either way, nowadays after i take pictures of nature, i kill it. Much more fun laugh.gif

If those dual-kit lens you stated are coming with the 500D.. then why not? The tele lens included is very nice. For most newbies, once they put on a tele/superzoom lens they'll just leave their stock 18-55 lens to collect dust. Alot of flexibility, yeah?

dont buy DSLR, trust me you will get boring after 2 weeks.

after that your DSLR will either

1) end up getting dusty in the cupboard
2) end up selling it off

or

3) decided your lens not "BIG" enough. laugh.gif

First thing you need to do after buying your DSLR just Read The Fxxking Manual. Understand more what your camera can do.
