hihi there citizens of lowyat forum! rclxms.gif
I want to chance my lap top from Sony Vaio to another brand or maybe Still sony but then I don't really know how to choose a better laptop because you see, everyone has friends and one friend has a different opinion and many friends = many different opinion.

I want to choose a laptop with these criteria:

a)Will not lag too much (My com takes >5 minutes to load the desktop even though there's only 5 icons on it vmad.gif )
b)Doesn't over heat too fast (I heard acer heats up VERY fast and my friend said the com burned his hand)
c)Good graphic quality ( can support fast moving on9 games)
d)battery life lasts long (at the minimum of 5 hours >< My com de bat can only lasts 2 hours on save bat. function T__T I killed my battery ><)
e)Price less than 4k (if can)
f) NOT SO HEAVY plz >< (2.4kg is very HEAVY for me ><) weight should be below or about 1.5kg ><
Doesn't matter what brand as long as is good quality and won't leave me pulling out my hair.

Help plz >< I may know about programs but I certainly is @_@ over buying a good computer >< icon_question.gif

for laptop i always go for dell. its not really that expensive and if you are looking for laptop around 1.5kg it would be difficult with all those other criteria that you want. firstly, what size of laptop you would prefer? small or a larger one like 15"?

Weight of around 1.5 means you're looking for netbook class. The only one you can game on is Asus N10J with Nvidia chip. I'd recommend HP DV2 (1.6Kg) but battery on that one only lasts for 4 hours tops without going on9.

ndrw90: PCG-5GEP Sony Vaio my laptop just 2 years old but everything like 5 years old already D:

To everyone here ^^: Possible ma to get a 2.4GHz P4 processor + intel core Duo Processor? from del for 4k? brows.gif

Racerx: But then hor, comparing to the lappy you suggested and usual brands like Del/HP which would be more suitable for college students who needs to do presentations, play games (like sims 3 ^^wink.gif, surf net etc.? My only fear is that although it has many good qualities but It may not last long even with proper care...

If you guys were to be able to choose between brand Hp, SOny and Del, which has more pros than cons?
(I just love sony stuffs even if the price is costly sad.gif)

oh I forgot to add, the lappy should also have built in webcams with okay okay picture quality at the very least sweat.gif

What on earth is the bolded part supposed to mean? Two processors in one laptop?

For me I'd pick anyone which can guarantee good after sales service, of which Dell is one of the best at.

And all current laptops should ship with built in webcams, so no worries there.

Asus U80V @ rm3199 is a pretty good chocie, 14" and yet only 2.1kg, considered light... most 14" in the market are 2.3kg-2.5kg... C2D T6500 with HD4570... users report approx. 5hrs of battery time... not to forget Asus' famous 2yrs int'l warranty...

a. boot up time is not related to how many icons on the desktop you have

b. laptop wont burn your hand, if they do, throw it please. overheat fast or not depends on your usage, dont expect gaming for few hours and your laptop still stay cold all the time, unless you are using high performance laptop with good cooling system

c. mainstream laptop with mid-end GPU could run newer games in low settings.

d. minimum of 5 hours is hard to find, 2-3 hours is kind of normal

e. possible

f. want to play games, doesn't overheat fast and less than or equal to 1.5kg, doesn't make sense to me

taking all requirement except price, down to sony vaio z, but cost at > 8k.
a.) this depends on how you optimize and maintain your windows
b.) can try put rubber/bottle cap at the end on notebook to give more airflow.
c.) possible.
d.) >5 hours you are looking at netbook and culv notebook regions. 2-4 hours is more acceptable, with power saving.
e.) possible
f.) <2.4 kg you are looking at 14'' an below.

>2kg: , BenQ s42(<4 hours, 2.2kg), Asus u80v (<5 hours, 2.1kg), Asus ul80vt (<9 hours, 2.1kg)
<2kg: Acer timeline 4810TG (<8 hours, 1.9kg)
either you compromize on weight or performance.
performance wise: BenQ s42 > Asus u80v > Asus ul80vt >= Acer timeline 4810TG

As stated above, the Inspiron 13 is good value for undemanding games. But considering your request for battery time and weight, I'd say you'll be hard pressed to get a more powerful system that fulfills all criterion.
