I guess people will always have simple questions about hardware so let's post your one liner questions here.

Free for all - that means anyone, seniors and noobs alike can ask super stoopid question and not get whacked / flamed / scolded  harrased / killed / whatever by any forumer - just in this thread)

Other oneliner and "I-refuse-to-google" threads will be deleted without mercy bruce.gif

To those who flame others for asking stoopid question will get their share of flames, no question asked

your proc isnt damaged, but your EIST enabled.

your speed will reduce to 1.2ghz when you PC is idling / not using so much power; when you run multiple application / gaming / heavy task, the speed will revert back to 2.2ghz.

1. you can go back to the shop where you got it from. i guess can send straight to the distro here also, but i'm not sure where and what company's in charge.

2. nope your processor isn't damaged, that's just the intel speed-step tech working. the processor downclocks itself when it's idle so that it uses less power.

apparently they will. they just updated their schedule

http://www.techpowerup.com/107411/AMD_Upda...U_Schedule.html

Even if they will, RM600 for Amd Phenom II x4 is a very good choice.

AMD Updates CPU Schedule
AMD updated its CPU market schedules, looking as far as Q4 2010, across various CPU product lines. The update involves phasing out several existing products, adding replacements, and the addition of new products, according to sources in the motherboard industry. To begin with, several Phenom II X4 900 series quad-core processors will be discontinued. The company has reportedly already stopped taking orders for the Phenom II X4 910 (HDX910WFK4DGI, 2.60 GHz), and the 125W Phenom II X4 945 (HDX945FBK4DGI, 3.00 GHz). The latter perhaps is phased out due to its 95W variant (HDX945WFK4DGM). The company will stop taking orders for the 140W Phenom II X4 965 BE in Q1 2010, perhaps because of its 125W variant, for X4 925 around the same time, and for the X4 955 125W in Q2. The company is planning to release a 95W variant of the X4 955 around that time.

The company will also stop taking orders for several Phenom II X4 800 series, X3 700 series, X2 500 series, and Athlon II X4 600 series, and X3 400 series processors, as Phenom II X4 820, Phenom II X3 740 and Phenom II X2 550 will remain. Q4 2009 will see the introduction of the 3.20 GHz Phenom II X2 555, the new Athlon II X4 640 (3.00 GHz, 95W), and the Athlon II X3 445 (3.10 GHz, 95W) will follow in Q2 2010.

Finally, Q2 2010 will see the introduction of the company's six-core processor, codenamed "Thuban". Built on the 45 nm process, it features 512 KB of L2 cache per core, and 6 MB of shared L3 cache. It retains the socket AM3 package, and the first in the series could sport a clock speed of 2.80 GHz.

eh, phase out? discontinue?

what does the 125W, 95W means?

watts, power consumption?

as in new series consumes less watts, power? more energy efficient?

those are the not that powerful models which they cannot make profit at all. But Phenom II 955 i think still will continue.

Watts.

No idea about the new series but if they going to release new models they must be better than the older ones... if not whats the point right??

Try softwares like Prime95 for stress testing.. Use the blend option I guess for more thorough testing..

As for monitoring your temp, you can use HWmonitor..

1. CrossFire or CrossFireX is multi-GPU setup for ATI Radeon graphics cards. Read more here.

2. Modem, no. Router, yes. A Router with both LAN and wireless connections is essentially a router with a switch and an Access Point.

the reason why you cant get any as they are different segment and prices.
x2 550 is dual core, i5 is quad core. rm 350 vs rm 720. double the price la.
