this is what i found out:

The Canon Rebel 1500D/T1 will be announced very soon – intended for sale during the Christmas season. The key specs:

* Same 12MP sensor as 450D/XSi
* DIGIC IV
* Movie mode added: up to HD 1080, only 1 frame rate option at that size, 30fps
* Fixed LCD 460K dots
* No significant changes in size, weight or price. Price will of course be close to 1000D’s MSRP at launch
* May have sensor shift stabilization
* 3.5fps

anyone heard of this, is this a pure crap or its true. i wonder if i should wait for that

if you can wait till chinese new year then wait lo
coz new models when launch will take about 1-2 months to reach our shores and stores
if you dont want to miss all the nice moments of capturing pictures then just go out and buy one already!
Camera stuff and PC stuff almost the same...
can never get the latest and fastest...(unless you are loaded)

1080p at 30fps n sensor shift stabilization is nonsense I reckon. How can lowest spec camera handle 1080p at 30fps? Even 500D is stuttering at 20fps. N there's no way Canon gonna go with sensor IS as they have been preaching about the superiority of lens IS for gazillion years.

it will be interesting to see if canon put sensor shift IS in their SLR
bowing to pressure from sony/oly/panasonic/pentax?

I doubt they'll put "Sensor Shift IS" because they've been praising their "IS" in lens. tongue.gif

Every review I've read say 500D only does 1080p at 20fps which stutters n it's better to do 720p at 30fps. Canon site oso says 20fps only.
R u sure urs can do 24fps? hmm.gif

I can't confirm that but AFAIK, my Canon EOS 500D shows 24 FPS when I select Full HD 1080p. sweat.gif
Maybe I remembered wrongly, I'll check back later. Anyway, I never use video recording function. rclxub.gif

nothing much in the changes that enticed my much..
3.5fps not that much.. pentax k-x much much faster..
lcd 460K? usually ppl will see thru viewfinder and only do setup on the lcd and maybe some photo editing..
12MP? well i prefer they increase the sensor size.. it's the smallest among the entry-level dslr..

Not even out yet.
Specs not even released yet.
Heck, it's just a rumor that it may be released.
How to conclude a price?
But it should be around 1000D's price.

They better put some rubber grip on the 1500D. The 1000D really sucks in that it has a horrible hard plastic grip. Cmon Canon, it only costs a few more cents to put a piece of rubber there.

Maybe it uses some special kind of rubber that costs a lot more?
So they can't use it to keep the cost down. Maybe it's some special synthetic rubber/silicone... blink.gif

Last time 350D n 400D both had nice rubber grips like all other SLRs. Dunno why Canon suddenly went cheapo n made 1000D with such a terrible grip. No reason for it since it's selling at same price point as 350D n 400D.
