I use Hdloader smile.gif.

if you get a cracked HDloader from the net (in fact, I can give it to you tongue.gif. complete with the latest patches from the scene) and have a modded PS2, it'll be no problem.

BTW i suggest using your PC's DVDrom to backup games to the HDD with win hiip (google it) instead of using the PS2. It's faster on the PC and you don't wear out your ps2's laser wink.gif

HDLoader do support all copied games (not only original game). I'm using HDLoader patched with 48bit LBA support and etc....my hard disk is 200G.
But not all game support HDLoader...GT4 cannot....Suikoden 4 (NTSC/J) cannot...

Please get Win Hiip 1.6.5 ...all version before 1.6.5 have bugs.
First time you use hard disk for HD Loader, you can directly connect Hard disk to PS2 and boot up HDLoader, HD Loader will ask you whether want to format Hard disk or not...You can format your hard disk with this method.
Win Hiip 1.6.5 also can format your hard disk to PS2 format, but I never try before, so, I don't know it will work or not...I encourage you to format your hard disk using HD Loader and then only store your game using Win Hiip 1.6.5
Just connect your PS2 hard disc to your PC using USB or IDE, then select it in Win Hiip and select "add image" or "add CD/DVD" for your PS2 game to store it into your PS2 hard disk...should be very easy one larrr...... biggrin.gif

use winhiip to format, it's formatting utility actually offers more customization (especially if you have a DMS or other Devolution capable chip and would like to store other than games on the hdd) options than the built in HD loader one.

will send latest winhiip and hdloader soon.

that one need to do some opening by cutting the PS2 Network Adaptor cover to allow extension cable for power supply and HDD IDE to be extend out for Hard disk out side PS2.
I never do this arrr....

you need to have
1) PS2 network adaptor
2) HD Loader or HD Advance
3) Any normal IDE Hard Disc for PC (from 4G to 200G) except Western Digital one (you need to do modification to your network adaptor if you want to use Western Digital hard disc)....

a swap chip is fine for hdloader.

yes you can boot hd-advance from your MC but you'll still need to trigger it with a PSX cd. there's another way but i haven't researched about it.

I wish Djinn would do a bulk for Crystal Chips for the PS2. it's got it's own dashboard interface biggrin.gif

intune, good to hear that your PS2 hard disk is successfully configured for HD Advance. thumbup.gif
Yes, as what moe6 mentioned, install HDLoader or HD Advance to memory card still need a PS1 game disc to boot it up, you can not directly boot up the HD Loader from memory card without PS1 game disc, except for some special mod chip like Matrix Infinity which have the autoboot function and the firmware for the Matrix Infinity chip can be upgrade to boot up HD Loader directly from memory card.

I'm not sure what is your concern regarding Hard disk's heat. As what I understand is, the hard disk connected to PS2 will spin at a lower speed compare to connected to PC, eventhough you use 7200 rpm hard disk for PS2, it will only spin at 5400rpm in PS2. So, hard disk won't be as hot as connected to PC. I'm using Maxtor 200G 7200rpm hard disk for my PS2 and until now still don't see any issue...but my hard disk still have warranty, so I don't care lorrr....but whether the heat of hard disk will damaged PS2 or not, I have no comment...because I never heard people complain regarding this, but, thing that never happen still can happen, right?

True..true..

Yeah HDloader and HDadvance are cool apps for the PS2.. I'll never go back to the slow loading of the DVD drive... Have anyone notice that if you leave the HDA disc in the drive, the disc drive keeps spinning at times..I noticed that few weeks back cosz my PS2 felt kinda warm and thot it was overheatin but it was the disc spinning in the drive.. i dont know wether this is a bug on HDA or the drive eventually spin down after a while.

For safe measure i take out the HDA disc once it boots to the menu.. I also heard that a USB loader was also available on the net but i have yet to download it..

Tips for HDA users: You can also inject new bitmaps to your 'main' boot screen and also the 'splash' screen at boot up..Mine just have WindowsXp boot screen when my copy starts .. drool.gif

yeah i remove my CD right after it loads. I believe the bug mainly affects V9, V10 units only. This is mainly where I wish I had a Crystal Chip so I can just load it from CC's own dasboard instead of a CD sad.gif
