Hi guys, i have a question regarding my pc
Spec: AMD phenom 2 X4 940BE 3.0Ghz + Asus M4A78PRO mobo. Kingston Hyper-X 4gb ddr2 Asus Gts250 1gb Gigabyte PSU 720W @ real power 690W+ I've installed the EPU software bundled with my mobo, and i found out the power saving is quite useful to me, In Max Power Saving Mode, it downclock my processor from 3.0ghz to 800mhz for each core. and grahpic card from 800mhz to 400mhz core speed + 800mhz memory speed(2000mhz default). It helped me to save electricity bills since i only do gaming some times, and i put full load on it. BUT, Is there any Side effect of downclocking the processor and VGA card , Hdd Ram, ? By long term, will it slow down the Cpu speed or life time? i couldnt get any satisfied answer even though i've googled . any pro had experience on this be4? thanks ! Attached thumbnail(s) |

No (bad) side effect.
Heat kills hardware -- reducing heat will slow the process down but still, shit does happen. This post has been edited by anembor: Oct 31 2009, 09:45 AM |

side effect = less performance

As an Ocer, i dont think that downclock ur proc will give you any side effect on it! it just an tech that giving you choice yo save your hardware dude!
For so so and mid-range user it will benefit to them as bro xixo (GURU) also always down clock his proc with manual setting,if you want to learn it,you can always drop by at AMD OC thread as there is a lot of AMD Guru there! This post has been edited by verdict: Oct 31 2009, 11:14 AM |

all our hardware automatically downclock itself when not using.
so save ur hassle and just turn on ur power saving feature. my 260gtx is just 300mhz core 100mhz memory when idle. |

The thing that i always do: go bios.. set it manually to lowest clock that u can achieve. first find 3.0 (200x15) @ lowest voltage operating. then go to bios. change to 1.6ghz (200x8) @ same volt before this. prepare the AOD at ur desktop. when u about to gaming, drag the multiplier using AOD . so no more fluctuation .. efficiency is high |

since when we argue about it...we just tell the different method, it's just an information.., if TS want to learn, TS always can read the articles over the web.
if you are here , just to show your expert while the fact is not.. go somewhere else... but we are here to share the knowledge.. btw, anembor u just win the thread too This post has been edited by xixo_12: Nov 1 2009, 06:04 AM |
