QUOTE(C-Note @ Nov 3 2009, 12:41 AM)
eh guys,

Is there a way to add another phone line? me living in condo too and only have one which is in the living room( my desktop in room). Sometimes I get really fed up with wireless and wish to install another phoneline in my room. Do I call TM or my condo management?

Thx!

You mean you want another jack connected to the same line?

If so, still have the handphone number of the installer who set up your streamyx? He can do the wiring for cheap. Or you can do it yourself.

If you mean an entire separate fixed line with a different number, then it depends on your condo. I notice in Malaysia that many buildings only have the facility for one line per unit. To me that seems pretty strange; at home they usually leave enough wire for 2-4 lines, but I guess developers are really trying to scrimp on money. The same installer guy will be able to get the keys to look in the wiring closets and see if it's possible.

For condo there is fix line.

what tm tell u is there is no way to provide fix line to ur unit for ADSL.

The reason is the line is only possible to be provide from the tm's juntion to ur condo's pbx controller room but the line trunking from pbx room to ur unit is under ur condo's management responsible..

normally this last mile is not suitable for ADSL unless ur builder spend money on better line n pbx during construction.

If u call tm new land line subscription helpline , they will tell you they can provide the land line. if you call ADSL helpline they will tell you cannot. this is because the last mile can cater for landline but not tm adsl.

If there's a PBX then it's highly unlikely to be served by a bunch of independent fixed lines. Will be ISDN or similar.

What a horrible thing to do, though. Who would want to live somewhere where you are connected to the outside world through a shady PBX?

condo's are usually very difficult to deal with. if your condo is wired with Maxis or Celcom, then TM wont come in unless there's a reason for them to do so. so only way is u go door to door to ask all the other residents to change over to TM. hehehe...

and to add lines is even more difficult, because you have to see if your condo can support and the management allow. there are many rules to follow and most of the time, the wire has to be hidden. so if you have no way to hide it, then again cannot.

good luck, thats y i hate living in condos.

Hi all,

I'm moving into a year 2006 built condo in OFF OLD KLANG ROAD - Sri Jati 2 condo and now only i realise there's no phone line for this "new" condo as told by TM.. any residence staying in Sri Jati 2 mind to confirm?

this is Msia year 2009 and i really can't believe a new condo does not have a single inch of fixed line? even worst than KAMPUNG la! for those who used to live at condo, some condo really NO phone line in wall?

i need to install a fixed line for calls and Streamyx.. sighh.. hope you guys can brighten my sky~ thanks~!

Condo usually have their own internet connection...The management will engage with 3rd party provider and install Fibre Optic as backbone.

Pls go talk to ur condo management
