The same thing happen for me after upgrading process as well. I'm not sure Sabily Gaza will up soon due to install grub error in Beta version. I don't know if the problem was already solved.

Well, i for one, hates it when i switched over from Vista to Ubuntu earlier due to work issues. It felt such a hassle especially when needing to install certain programs where you need hell lot more work as compare to the "double click the exe and install" method on the windows.

But for now, the more i try, the more i felt good about it. Yea, the installing certain software are still there and there is a high dependency on the terminal but once you get over that, its really fast and smooth. Kinda really like the karmic koala smile.gif and would probably stay longer even not for work.

ahaha what! installing apps is merely a matter of typing "sudo apt-get install <insert name>" in the terminal. dont even need to find an exe

Well, then you would need to know the name to insert tongue.gif I mean, some will need you give the version numbers etc tongue.gif or you should call me lazy. I do have a couple of programs, mainly Adobe Air which requires me to install it manually. Meaning, download the tar.gz file, do some chmod, launch it using the terminal etc to get it to install, and that, at first, was more troublesome than Windows.

But i kinda like the Ubuntu Software Center that came along. Thats a nice piece to the Karmic Koala (didnt notice it when i am on 9.04, or i might have not explored enough tongue.gif). Started off with the lowly Zenwalk but switched to Ubuntu, and life came so much easier in Ubuntu.

Edited :

Anyone here able to enable the Visual Effects in System --> Apearance? I tried selecting it, it searched for drivers, and then failed. Just trying to explore what difference does it make.

Installing software in Linux is indeed difficult http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntucat/softwa...x-is-difficult/ /sarcasm tongue.gif

Compiz should be enabled by default. What was the error message exactly when it failed when you tried to enable it?
