Which one is better in term of quality; Sony DSC TX1 vs WX1?

Somehow its very difficult to google this topic. please help me out. WX1 is cheaper but the lens seems bigger and 5x optical zoom compare to TX1. so why WX1 is cheaper? just because its bigger in size?

The WX1 has wide angle which is a major factor ppl will be purchasing it over the TX1.. If the TX1 has wide angle , then you gotta say bye bye to WX1 already =P

Still, which one is better (picture quality)? The technical spec is easy to find. Just lack of review and comparison between these two items.

If someone could please post sample picture to compare these two?

TX1 = similar to PnS with shorter zoom (3X), smaller lens, no wide angle (35mm only), slower aperture (F3.5) as its using folding optics - meaning the zoom does not come out of the body (like the T900). It has a front slider that automatically switches on the camera, and the back is a 3inch touch screen LCD. Its a much slimmer and sleeker design with little buttons.

WX1 = Bridge between PnS and DSLR (more closer to PnS than DSLR), lens protude out of the body, has longer zoom (5X). Focal is wider at 24mm and lens aperture is bigger at F2.4, meaning you can get more light and faster shutter, helps in low light conditions. Also helps to get good bokeh (for a PnS). No touch screen at the back. Its much thicker (than TX1) but has more buttons.

Both features the same Exmor R sensor, has sweeping panorama (handheld auto switching in camera) and twilight handheld (tho the WX1 does better than the TX1 as the lens aperture is bigger).

Go to any Sony Style or Centre, and compare both cam side by side. Both caters to diff needs of the photog.

My choice: WX1 due to the lens (wider and better aperture at F2.8) and thus better PQ.

hmm.. I have tested both TX1 and WX1 in low light condition (I asked the promoter to bring me into their store and switch off the light tongue.gif )

Both are superb when viewing in laptop. I cant tell the different (TX1 vs WX1) in quality. So by the end, I choose WX1 because its wide angle (this is the only reason). Actually its very hard to decide since TX1 is made in Japan and more solid body (aluminum body if i'm not wrong) while WX1 is plastic and made in China.

The iAuto also very good. I stick to this setting (Programme doesnt seems advantage since we cant set the aperture/shutter manually).

A little out off topic, I think Lumix LX3 is better (compare to TX1 or WX1) when taken with flash. Somehow the TX1/WX1 not bright enough and less vivid? In overall, I decide WX1/TX1 as the winner compare to LX3 because they can take superb picture without flash (means now i can take people playing firework without the flash!!!)

hi, thanks for the quick reply
my wife is considering the TX-1 due to the looks
but i'm concerned with the lense (35mm, f3.5 vs 24mm f2.4) having been very used to the 28mm on the older camera
i'll go and test out both, i guess
thanks.

Can take more people in small room. Also impact on bokeh (blur background - aka depth of field)
