This is my Become a Legend story in PES 09. Difficulty : Regular , 20 minutes per game.
* I dont usually play soccer games and usually get trashed by my friends when we play FIFA or PES over LAN, so regular is like expert for me. Also, the game felt really real to me, so if you wanna tease me for taking the game so seriously, go ahead =.=.
Name : Ben Dawson , England
H/W : 1.7m, 60 kg
Pos : started as left wing back, then became left winger and occasionally right winger !
First Match - Scout Match !Ok its the first game ! I chose to be a left sided defender because I felt that I wanted to succeed Ashley Cole in the England line up ( as there is not much competition except Wayne Bridge who is also almost as old as Cole ) !
My team won 1-0 and I scored ! YAY !
Apart from the goal which I got from heading in a corner, I found out that football is really hard. Every attempt I made to try and beat any player with pace or some step-overs, I failed. At last, I resorted to just passing the ball around !
But the corner was great, I was outside the box and ran in and headed the ball into the top right corner ! YES

.
Joining MiddlesbroughI signed up to join the highest ranking team I was offered and it was Middlesbrough. Not bad as they were in the premiership.
For the first few games, I wasn't even on the bench and played in reserve intersquad matches ( Middlesbrough vs Middlesbrough reserves ).
I have to admit, I was struggling in matches. Among all my attributes, the highest was stamina at 89, and then an agility of 81 and a top speed of 81. My acceleration was like only 74, and I found out I could never beat anyone with that speed.
My time at the reserves was indeed fustrating. The manager did not take into account my ability to score from headers from corners and I was consistently put out to stay back during offensive corners. However, for a few times, I did get foward, but either failed to head the ball or headed it out !
My best game yet and FIRST TEAM FOOTBALL !On my 7th game in the reserves, I got THREE headers from corners into the net which meant I scored a hat-trick

. It is my finest game to date ( although it was a reserves match ), and hell yeah, I was named in the subsitutes bench on the following game !
First team football probably came to early for me. I definitely lacked the penetrative ability any wide player should have. I played a slow passing game and hit in crosses whenever I could, but sadly, most of them were cleared off defenders

.
Again, the managers decisions puzzled me. I was often used as a subsitute to come on to play on the right or left of midfield. However, I never complained and followed whatever he asked me to do.
Using my only key attribute I had now ( stamina ), I was constantly making runs foward and closing down enemy players throughout the whole pitch. I made a few key interceptions which gave me good end of the match ratings occasionally.
But, I definitely wanted more, not just some bench warmer to come out to play because someone out there is tired. I wanted glory !
Breaking through the first team !After 6 or 7 matches coming off the bench and making little impact, I decided to rethink my strategy of the game. I have never been used as a left back ( in first team ). I then discovered the "call for ball" button LOL. This made the game so much easier as I had been making runs but never getting the ball when I wanted it.
But shhhh, to keep it real, lets say that Ben Dawson ( my footballer name ) had reached maturity and increased tremendously in his tactical play as well as communications skills with team mates.
Soon, I also found out the key to crossing ! Whenever my team counter attacks, we need to be fast, and penetrate them before the defence has a chance to settle, and putting an early cross in was the key to assisting my teamates to score.
With the "call for ball" or lets call it, COMMUNICATION, I was able to make runs from either wing and put a cross in and let my team mates alfonso alves, mido, tuncay and jeremie aliadere score goals !
In addition, I also discovered it would be wasteful to cross when there are many enemies in the box. So, if this event occurs, I would wait for an enemy to close me down, before crossing, to hit them, and hopefully gain a corner or a throw-in .
With this tactical abilities under my belt, I was soon becoming an important asset to Middlesbrough, and finally, I began to start matches

.
Furthermore, my amazing stamina allowed me to run back and forth, and constantly close down the enemies without feeling fatigue, allowing me to stay on the field throughout 90 minutes for most matches !
Man of the matchIt was against tyneside ( newscastle ) that I gained my first MoTM. I delivered two crosses which were converted by Tuncay and Mido. We won 2-0, and I was voted MoTM ! I was extremely pleased with myself and this has to be my favourite "personal " award !
GOAL !!!!!!I scored my first goal against Man Blue ( Manchester City ). It did not come from corner, it actually came from a counter attack. Graeme Owens ( Right winger ) had gained possesion from an enemy corner. He launched the ball up the field. There were only 2 Middlesbrough players ( Me and Mido ) who charged up the field. Mido beat Dunne in the challenge for the ball ( both players missed the header ) and Mido overpowered and outpaced Dunne and charged down the right wing.
I ran the whole field into the opposition penalty box and Mido passed a perfect ball to me.
My first touch was great, although it made the angle much tigther to shoot. I thundered a shot with my right foot ( weaker foot ) to the top corner, and scored my first goal !
I won my second MoTM of the season here
End of 2008-2009The season ended as Middlesbrough finished mid-table ( cant remember what position ). I scored a goal, made 6 or 7 asists in 27 matches and was MoTM twice ! Quite a good first season for a rookie !
Start of 2009Just so you know, I rejecting all moves to any club in any transfer window ( although I cant remember which clubs gave offers to me ), because I felt LOYAL to Middlesbrough !
I had high hopes for this season.
My goals
* Score more goals
* More assists
* Have that dribbling ability to get passed players
* Have the manager convinced that Im worthy of being in the box during offensive corners =_= ( half the time im standing in the middle of the pitch when my side gets corners

)
* Join the England national setup
FEAR BEN DAWSONIt was so long since I played at the left side of defense, I completely erased those memories. Now, I was an explosive pacy winger with a wicked left foot when it comes to crossing the ball ( terrible at shooting the ball, my shooting power is like 54 i think ).
I soon began to learn the art of penetrating defenders, able to judge the distance between me and defenders, and identifying situations where I could be able to sidestep and get past slower defenders with a burst of pace.
My top speed had reached 89 ( same as stamina ) and acceleration of 81. I could beat many defenders with that especially the slower or less agile ones who take time to turn their bodies.
Though some of the better defenders did succesfully tackled me, my fellow wing back ( Arca and Pogatetz ) were always there to cover me.
I especially enjoyed my relationship with Arca as he knew exactly when to pass the ball to me, just beating the offside trap before I burst down the wing and cross the ball.
My abilities coupled with the arrival of David Beckahm ( I have no idea how Beckham would want to join middlesbrough , but he did in my PES 09, so bear with it ), Middlesbrough soon began challenging in the top four.
Beckham scored several free kicks, and finally, my heading's from corners were hitting the net.
I ended the season with 7 goals and 14 assists ( which at one time, I was the leagues top assister ) from 38 games. I was very happy indeed, however, I failed to break into the England setup, not even a call up.
UNTIL......The World cup 2010 arrived, and to much of my suprise, Fabio Capello decided to include me into his team. My form had finally gotten him to notice my talents, I was eager to impress in the squad. Although I knew this was a controversial decision ( like the inclusion of Theo Walcott by Sven Goran Eriksson 4 years ago ), I was very happy.
Despite having no international experience before hand, I was on the bench for the first game against Belarus.
We were 1-0 up thanks to Rooney at halftime !
ENGLAND DEBUTI was brought on as a subsitute for David Bentley. I was set on the less familiar role of a right winger. However I did my best closing people down constantly and always attempting to break the offline trap. We won the game 1-0, and I would say, I was pretty disappointed with my performance. I had a few touches and made a terrible pass which I didn't intend to ( stupid keyboard

) but oh well.
REAL LIFE STORYMy dad came to install "oracle" program on my PC and used some of his old files. My laptop got corrupted and could no longer start up ( blue screen of memory dump appears ). I had to clean my harddrive by formatting. That was a sad ending..., my save file was gone
NOW A SOCCER VERSION OF THIS SAD STORY
News : Ben Dawson sustains career threatening injury !During a training session with England, a wild Gorilla ( alias for my dad ) trampled on young promising winger Ben Dawson. The injury is serious and looks career threatening !
Two years laterBen Dawson's glittering and promising career had ended prematurely. Ben Dawson failed to recover from the injury he suffered when a wild gorilla escaped from an African zoo ( THIS IS A FICTION STORY, I HAVE NO IDEA IF GORILLAS LIVES OR DOESNT LIVE IN AFRICA ).
Ben Dawson had accumalated 65 appearences for Middlesbrough, scoring 8 times and making 21 assists. He started his career as a wing back but was shifted to the left wing later because of his flair and attacking ability. He was considered as a potential solution to England's left side of midfield.
His sole appearance for England came in a World Cup game against Belarus when he played for 45 minutes coming on for David Bentley.
Now Ben Dawson is applying for coaching badges and is ready to attempt his hand at coaching or management for the vacant seat in Middlesbrough.
Ben Dawson will buy Football Manager 2010 and play as the manager of MiddlesBrough !
THATS MY STORY OF "BECOME A LEGEND" in PES 09 !
Hope u had fun reading it
