^Don't really understand how TM can do business like that. If I were you,  I will just cancelled the existing broadband package immediately and then reapplied a new one. BY then you should be considered a new subscriber isn't it?

If you've passed the contractually bound period, then there shouldn't be any problems. Further, the initial fees for the new package pricing is waived hence there shouldn't be anything else that you have to pay. Do update us on the status though.

How to check whether the TM server for 4mb package nearby your house? I thought there is a limitation whereby only available for as far as 3km from the TM server.

Anyhow which is the ideal distance from TM server in order to get good speed of connection?

Thanks!

If your area supports 4MB, go for 4MB, since there's only RM20 differences in the price but twice the speed.
This however, will turn into a waste if you are not a hardcore downloader.
Even 2MB will turn into waste of money if you don't fully utilize the speed.

guys, I need ur kind feedback.. I hv been using streamys at 1mbps for almost two years.. price is at RM77...  and I only pay for streamyx because the telephone line is under my parents name.

but now, I am moving to a new house on my own.. at serdang area..  If i were to move my streamyx this time I have to bare the telephone line rental cost.

I want to know hw good is streamyx compare to other broadband services. I am not a heavy user.. recently I got to know U mobile broadband plan at RM68 with fair usage policy.. 3.6mbps unlimited data.

is streamyx is still good compare to this? I never used other broadband before, so far streamyx is okay to me not to say good just okay.

You'll have to find the Attenuation & Noise Margin of your connection by yourself, I don't use Linksys.
However, I do believe it's in the same page I wrote last time.
If it's not, just browse through the modem, just don't change any settings.

If your connection is bad as per the page stated, call Streamyx Hotline & ask them to change your DSLAM port.

No wonder your DSL is very unstable.
Call Streamyx Hotline & ask them about changing into another DSLAM port.
Although, the normal CS representative has a high chance of not understanding what DSLAM port is.

However, do take not that the bad Line Attenuation & Noise Margin of yours may be caused by bad phone line.
It's either one of those 2.

How old is your phone line?

That's still new, my home phone line is already more than 15 years but my line attenuation & noise margin is a lot better than yours.

How old is your house?
I'm asking this because it also depends on how old is the outside cable phone line.

PS: By the way, do you experience frequent disconnection from Streamyx?

Wanted desperately to get the 4mb line for 3 years contract..BUT..TMpoint personal said that is for new customers only!!..Funny, never stated anywhere..they said no need to argue...many ppl oledi argue also cannot get the 3 year contract plan...

In the end...I upgrade from 1mb to 2mb (1year plan)...I hope I get a better speed than what I'm getting now...that is 170~200KB/s.....I hope can get 250~300KB/s with the 2mb line.
