DO NOT PM ME FOR A LOGIN OR KEY!!! Each login only gets one key per software title - therefore you can't just simply use my login.

I logged onto my MSDNAA account this morning to grab a copy of windows server and I found a nice surprise - Windows 7 Professional (full version - not beta! - not release candidate!). Mine was a digital download and free - but as we all know each MSDNAA account is setup differently. Not only will prices be different, but so will software selection, so this is YMMV. The software updates are left up to the admin account holder (usually one of the professors in the department).

If you're not sure how to access your schools site, search for your school with the link below and log in. If you haven't done it before, you may have to contact your department admin for access.
http://www.msdnaa.net/search/schoolsearch.aspx

Please add your school to the wiki list - either to available or not available.

Before people ask, this is from wikipedia: [wikipedia.org]

QUOTE
MSDN Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) is a Microsoft program available to academic organizations, mainly colleges and universities, although there is also a high school version. The participating schools pay an annual fee for the MSDNAA service, in exchange for which, applicable departments (computer science, computer engineering, information technology, and related fields of that organization) as well as students and faculty can acquire licensed copies of Microsoft software such as Microsoft Windows, Visual Studio and other products. The list of software each college and university gets is dependent on the agreements made by that particular organization.

The software can be used in coursework and personal non-commercial projects. Students may continue to use these products for non-commercial purposes, even after they graduate.

MSDNAA software is accessed through a dedicated website run either by e-academy or by the university/high school itself. The service run by e-academy is called E-academy License Management System or ELMS. Access is determined by the MSDNAA agreement, but is usually given to students who meet certain requirements (must be currently enrolled in or teaching course(s) in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics).

Here is a copy/paste from my software selection:

Come on, many people don't even know whats Windows 7. Have some pity for lemon5969.

@lemon5969 Yes, it has been there quite a while but not everyone gets it as you said, its only available to students.

for schools like MMU, they don't automatically register every students into the system, I doubt they will let us do so, what's the case for other places?

You have to ask your college about this. Student can't do this on their own.

guys, i have a question regarding MSDNAA.
according to the FAQ:

QUOTE
Q: Can I install my software on two computers at once?
A: Yes, as long as you are the owner of both computers and both are being used for instructional purposes. NOTE: If you require another key for a product you must contact the PA (program administrator) at your school. Your PA's contact email information can be found in the support page. Click on the Support button above. Also, friends, family and colleagues not currently enrolled in a course that is part of an MSDNAA department are not allowed to access or use the software available from this website. (For examples of appropriate usage see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/academic/program...e/default.aspx)

however
QUOTE
Q: Does the license (or "key") permanently unlock the software?
A: No - the key allows you to install the software once. If you need to re-install the software, you will need to contact the PA (Program Administrator) at your school. Your PA's contact email information can be found in the support page. To view this information, please click on the Support button above.

so does this apply to win 7? can it install on multiple PC or only one??

thanks!

i believe the key only applicable to only 1 pc...
and if u got another computer which is YOURS then u may ask for system administrator from ur college/uni/school to get another key

MSDNAA is maintained by administrator of your school..not by lecturer/tutor/whoever
