That's pretty cheap for an Ultimate upgrade but does it require Windows Vista Ultimate to qualified or is it like the Upgrade Anytime? Students nowadays are so fortunate. During my times there were never such an offer...

I asked him what edition is required for his student upgrade, so maybe their college/university is kind enough to let them upgrade from any edition.

Upgrade conditions are set by Microsoft, not college/university, so I doubt it's true. hmm.gif

Just bought the Windows 7 Home Premium retail for RM469 in 1Utama.

Can't wait to install it.

Do I really have to make a phone call to Microsoft for activation?

This is because I only have time to do it during the weekends.

If the college/University willing to pay for the Anytime Upgrade then I think can. Doesn't Anytime Upgrade works this way? any edition will be able to upgrade to equal or upper edition soI believe that's why they are given the Ultimate Upgrade.

Can I upgrade my Windows Home Premium to Pro or Ultimate in the future?

Am I subjected to the normal upgrade price or there are other upgrade price options?

Once upgrade, do I still get the retail privilege or it becomes an OEM version instead?

Windows Anytime Upgrade works on any edition, but it must be on the same version, for example, Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows Vista Ultimate. I believe upgrading to different version will not work.

You can upgrade using Windows Anytime Upgrade, but I don't know if Windows Anytime Upgrade is available in Malaysia or not, or the price for the upgrade. With Windows Anytime Upgrade, you don't need to reinstall, just enter your new Product Key and wait for the upgrade process, so if your previous edition is retail, then the upgraded edition will be retail too, the same applies to OEM.

IC, then the student upgrade that guy mentioned is useless without a vista ultimate. But how come got offer? Ang Moh might be treated differently...

I'm pretty sure that is OEM. MS sells the retail pack of 7 Home Premium for RM480 and Ultimate for way more than is listed. Also the RM380 price of 7 Home Premium concurs nicely with similar OEM copies being sold by Low Yat distributors.

Windows 7 in Malaysia sells for peanuts compared to the prices I have to stomach here in the States.
