hey...
i want to ask anybody who have experienced and have been going through Java Professional Certificate program handled by Sun Microsystem...
why? because my lecturer send my name to join that program ( because i got an A in my Java subject)....
so i want to know... the level of difficulty of that prgram....
base on its name (Java Professional Certificate) i think its a quite tough program...
and maybe its more advanced from what i have learn and achieved...
please give some advise...

But i think it cover what we learn from the basic and maybe add a little bit of things that try to cut ur marks
Anyway i think can give a try,
wont lost anything even if its too hard

really like java, but this FYP using asp.net + vb.net seems losing little bit of my knowledge of JAVA...
of course a pro one says it easy, and i think there is nothing to regret if i give it a try, who know this will be my rezeki after all.. but if not my rezeki at least i have experienced joining a professional program like that...

I took SCJP like 2 years back
Normally ppl failed it the first time, cos they think its easy and no need to study, especially those who are working as java programmer
anyway,I will say its a plus if you able to get certified,I mean i will definitely interested in calling candidates who are certified for an interview
not to say those without certified are not good, but with certification, not only prove your interest in Java but also assure that you have the basic knowledge of Java

There is a lot of question regarding what we facing in real life, you might need to look on a lot of books and trying to code a lot.
well, what we got in school in not really what we will facing in the community.

o.i.c yeah... its more challenging when to code base on real life situation, more towards working environment...
surely at that program i will know many good programmer right?... and if true how nice... what a valuable experience to know many programmer either beginner, moderate or expert... can change knowledge with each other...

but i will try my best to get certificate...

usually at that program not only student who will join right?

i m not sure about Java Professional Certificate
I took Sun Certified Java Programmer, that one is official cert from Sun

true, most of the times programming is about passionate
but,how do you tell your future boss that you are good in programming?
If u see resume with Java certified compare to another which doesnt have, which one you have more confidence in?

can you answer some simple questions like the following
-is string immutable in Java, and why so?whats the benefit of using immutable variable?
-can object inherit static methods from superclass?if cannot, what will happen if sub class implement the same method?

etc etc

and these things are covered in the certification exam

Should be multiple choices and drag and drop only.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hands on Programming.. ahhh..
This SCJP is giving me a pain in the ass. Yup, for someone who debugs by trial and error, taking the SCJP won't be an easy task.

Though, I don't understand why they ask questions like what kind of errors will it produced, etc. To understand better or to get the job done.

what do you mean by those who debugs by trial and error?... isnt that normal in program?... error is where we learn and understanding prgram..
owh... maybe its more to reading than practical ?

I think what he means is those ppl who code and debug all day long,if found problem they will google it and find solution, but maybe they dont know much about the fundamental things, then taking this exam will be hard, cos this exam needs u have knowledge even in the most fundamental things, like whats the max number of the type "int" etc

anyway,quiz of the day,

int result = Integer.MAX_VALUE + 1;
System.out.println(result);

what will be the answer?
