Dear all,

I've been advised to use on Proton WAJA:
Product: Accumat Hyperflex
Where: 6 layers on 2 front doors (cauz the metal causes alot of sounds)
Price: RM600 with installation

I think its expensive lar... Any other more alternatives? Or I could get the same thing with cheaper price?
Pls advice. Thanks!

Who told you Accumat Hyperflex > Dynamat Extreme? There was a comparison made on certain brand in US, but Accumat is not in the list.

Both are imported, so should be pricey. Maybe you want to try STP...hehehe Not heard of but even some soundproof salesman said STP is much better than theirs. You can call the distributor and check out the price.

DIY not hard la, save cost ma. I teach you la... doors only right? biggrin.gif

some brands are hard to work with (i.e. dynamat extreme).

they require the surface to be very clean , free from oil, grit, grime, oil, greese, tar etc.

sometimes cleaning preparation takes as much time as sticking on the soundproofing material. that is pain in the ass!

Sika is great. Only rm100 per piece (for 18" x 32" same size as dynamat) and it's easy to work with. furthermore, it is light and does not add considerable weight to your car.

dismantle the Power Window for waja are not for newbie.
Just give it to the pro to install them,u get urself hurt or maybe damage the regulator (Rm180 for local and RM4++ for ori)
installing the sound proof is easy but dismantle the power window is another story smile.gif

Choose ur poison carefully.. brows.gif

In my opinion, no need to make comparison la. The difference is, or at least to me, make no difference in our car daily usage. Do you think heat resistance reading difference of 1 or 2 celcius make any difference to you??

Have a budget and decide. Accumat and Dynamat is reputable in soundproofing, because they are imported materials (Guess proper RnD being done as well). So does Sika.

If you really want to make comparison, my Flex Mat is tearproof. Dare to try not?

Insulflex is for insulation purpose, it is cheap and to certain extend it helps. But soundproofing is all about dampen the vibrating materials/cause of vibration, and have the insulation done to have a better effect.

Ya, I take back my word to help you install on your car. Hahahah....sorry, I didn't know Waja is so complicated. Taking of the door guard no problem la...but the power window thingy, you have to solve it yourself.

Cheers. smile.gif

if small-2 noises are your problem, better isolate the sound and soundproof those single items only, for example the door lock metal is vibrating against the door metal, put a piece of double side tape, or foam tape on one side, so there no more noise...

small things like that lah, only thing is to fond the caouse of the noise takes a lot of blood, sweat & tears....

I am not pro, but I just enjoy ICE.

The reason I soundproofed my car is because I don't want my songs to mix with lorry/motocycle/car/...even trishaw sound... biggrin.gif

I dunno about others, but conti cars and local made cars are way different. sweat.gif

nope, im not a strong believer in sound dampening, id rather use that money to upgrade equipment.

my first competition didnt have any soundproof, even the RS Audio gwailo from germany also advise me not to use any and let the door's natural resonance help the sound ( i was using rs audio that time)

later on we did do soundproof for the doors only (brownbread, excellent product, no more in market) and added insuflex to the floor to improve the midbass, but i think the improvement came from the new speakers, lol...

lastly we laid metal o-rings all over the door plastic cover and poured resin over it, to make the plastic heavier and vibrate less. actually use soundproof also can, this was just to get a bit creative for the competition judges, thats all...

in conclusion, if u have the money, then go for it....

im selling dynamat, per box of 9 pieces at RM790

me using dynamat extreme + auto mat... so far no problem...

and well... helps on bass responces? not really a effect to be wow about... first i applied it because i thought my 6" mid didnt had enough mid bass... but then it didnt help much... changing to a 8" mid helps better...

but ratlling problem... yes it does help a lot... but only if you apply correctly...

like zenn said... have to find the cause of rattling then you decide which to use... if not... 7 layers also still got rattling...

and yea... Waja is one heck of a ride for soundproof... good luck on those...

cheers...
