hey guys, i just got my bb from maxis today but I can't seems to use it to connect to my house wifi. seems like the default web surfing for bb is maxis.

How do i change it? and since the BIS will only activated around monday or tmr. I have to use Edge which cost me money. i can't even browse the internet using wifi.. sobs. sobs

I am connected to wifi but cannot browse the net.

Set yr BB browser to "Hotspot Browser"
or
Use 3rd party software like Operamini, Bolt

Or U can just hassle maxis to activate faster.

But I did set my BB browser to "Hotspot Browser" still cannot surf using my house wifi. It will connect to maxis edge. Since BIS is not activated yet, it is costing me money.

Are u sure u are 100% connected to your house wifi? Go to manage connection, make sure Beside the "wifi" word, is your house wifi name.

Then set your BB browser to Hotspot Browser. If you set it to Hotspot browser, it will not connect using maxis edge. There must be something wrong.

U cannot use FB, Flickr, MySpace, Any Chat (MSN, YM, ICQ, GoogleTalk), BBM if your BIS not activate.

OMG I got the exact same problem with Maxis Blackberry Prepaid 488.

On the 6th of November I went to get the plan thinking it was out, and this guy from Maxis told me it was suspended and I was like fine, then I'll take the 899 instead and paid 1199 and left. That guy told me he would get the BIS and stuffs up and ready within 2 hours.

So I waited and I couldn't use my browser or anything at all. I called Maxis and they asked me to call Hotlink instead cause I'm a prepaid customer. I called hotlink and they told me Blackberry wasn't in their service and asked me to call the "Blackberry Centre" instead in which I did and he just told me that the shop whom I got the phone from was supposed to activate it for me. I WAS SO FRUSTRATED WITH MAXIS SERVICE. And then I just casually asked them why they suspended their 488 plans and he said that they didn't??? I got so mad I drove back to one utama maxis partner demanded the 488 plan instead and finally he voided the sale and charged me 1076. And true to whoever who said Maxis staff don't know crap nuts about their stupid plans.

But the thing is after 2 days, I still can't use my blackberry internet service or anything like that and I already paid for it!!

I'm in for all the complaints you guys are making I'm so angry at maxis. God maxis sucks big time.

Omg. Crap, they say that my BIS will be activated in 24 hours of purchased. I am really worried if maxshit does not activate my BIS.

And one more thing! I used my house wifi to connect since they cant activate my BIS (they said they wont be able to do it until next week wtf) and they charged me like ton lots for it!!

So I called and asked them and they asked me off my mobile network and just use my wifi instead.

But I can't even connect to the browser!

How can I use wifi at home without getting charged??

Let my share my story!

I go to sunway pyramid maxis center around 6:30pm. i take a no and waiting for my turn. in doing so, i also queue up the express lane to get a hotlink prepaid sim pack. the so called express lane are so slow. it take 45min to purchase prepaid sim pack and another 45min until my no. it malay guy cs is taking care of me. after the 15min for the reg. and i hv my bb 488 package. P.S. I HV TO TOP UP ANOTHER RM100 TO ACTIVATE MY 1 MTH BIS PREMIUM. CS SAY IS A MUST AND HE HELP ME TO ACTIVATE THE BIS SERVICES AFTER I TOP UP. Within 2min, he remove the battery from my phone and put it back and my BIS is activated. For a activated BIS BB, you will notice a "CAPITAL EDGE OR GPRS" on the right corder. Since then i enjoy my BB so much. You guys might want to remove the battery and put it back.

1) My push mail for Google Apps for Hosted Domain is always giving me problem. It show "Invalid account, Please validate"

2) Today, I received 2 sms for deactivation. First @ 2pm (and refund 97.80, then i lost 0.20 for nothing), and I reactivate back after this. Second @ 4pm (and refund 97.80, then i lost 0.20 for nothing) and i call Hotlink CS. CS say call me back in a short while and i'm still waiting.

Hi guys, I have my fair share of rantings to share here regarding maxshit bullshit blackberry services.

Part 1

OK, me and my girlfriend are both students, so being students we have student budget la. Forking out RM98 permonth for BB services is just plain out of question lo.

Was quite excited when maxis announced the BIS social or BIS messaging for RM28 per month, since we dun use social networking as much, BIS messaging seems to make a lot of sense, so we jumped on the deal at Maxis center pavillion KL.

Now, we had to wait for almost 20mins plus just to get served and another hour to eventually get the phone, and the lady (name: Angel) says dat we can get the phone for RM1200, rebate RM25 per month for 12 months and we can subscribe to BIS messaging or social later that night coz need 2hours activation or smth. so we conformed and being semi-malaccans, we went to Ikea damansara. (dat was when the nightmare starts)

We wanted to activate the BIS messaging, and upon pressin *100# , etc. etc. we got with an option of either BIS Premium Weekly (Rm28 weekly) or BIS Premium Monthly(Rm98 monthly). THERE WASN'T ANY BIS MESSAGING! ok, so, i relaxed and called 123, but was told to call the other hotlink call center number. (Even though i called from a hotlink card, i was still charged!). After being put on hold for wat seems like 30minutes of 1Malaysia anthem music watever, finally got to an operator that says dat the service is not ready yet, and asked me to activate the weekly premium first, which we did, coz overly desperate even tho it's quite pricey for smth we dun need. All rite, can finally use push mail etc. Service expiry in 7 days' time looming at the back of our minds... End of Part 1

scan for wifi connection. after connected, go to your bb browser click the bb icon and change ur browser setting to hotspot browser. did u do that?

and damn, my BIS is not yet activated. just like that i lost 1 day. ccb maxis vmad.gif

Ok, I forgot to mention in Part 1 that it was definitely impossible to make a call back to the maxis center in pavilion coz well, THEY DON'T HAVE A FREAKING NUMBER! So, being semi-broke-malaccans, driving back to pavilion from damansara was quite out of the question la, since we had to fetch our friends from bukit jalil immediately after ikea also, and we planned to head straight back to malacca after dat. So yea, we had to go thru the nightmare in ikea by calling countless maxis branches only to get lame answers, coz calling maxis call center was a waste of precious credit, time, and sanity.

Now, back to Part 2. So we got back to malacca, used the BIS services like crazy to abuse the unused 100MB limit, which we think is darn overpriced (RM28 perweek), coz FYI, in indonesia, RM50 permonth gives u unlimited premium BIS services with no headaches coz virtually everyone uses BIS over there, and XL has a bit more brains than their sister company (Celcom) over here la, dun even get me started on maxis.

on the 4th of november, we went to maxis center @ mahkota parade malacca to ask about renewing our BIS subscription to the BIS Messaging, and after getting our number and waiting for almost 20mins, the lady over the counter (very helpful and doesnt give empty promises, huge contrast with the pavilion ppl) said dat there arent any BIS social or messaging in the system. We were like panicky a bit la. C'mon la maxshit, we're students u know, dun treat us this harshly and take out the cheap services la, summore those services already printed on the brochure in pavilion.

so she's very helpful la, called here and there, eventually told us dat she's not sure whether we're allowed to cancel our BIS premium weekly and change to even the monthly or watever coz might burn our RM300 rebate. so i called maxis call center to confirm, handled by this lady who says that the BIS messaging and social wud be ready in 5working days' time, coz of system upgrading or watever nonsense. all in all, i had to spend prolly a total of 4hours in maxis centers just for this BB nonsense...

Ok now, today, we went there again coz our BIS service almost expire adee, and wanna renew to BIS messaging coz almost 5 working days' time as promised by the lady over maxis call center, which, i forgot to add, says dat our rebate wud still remain after switching. Upon getting to the maxis center, we had to take another number and wait for quite some time again, but this time, served by a really helpful and caring guy. He helped search for all the necessary details and to add to our misery, now it is stated on the maxis webbie that BIS social and messaging will only start as of December 1st, 2009! WHAT HAPPENED TO 5 WORKING DAYS!?!?!?!

I am very speechless adee. Maxshit and all their lies. Seriously annoying..I can bet with u guys, after december 1st, they surely say got system problem again 1, and delay to january 1st, etc. ANNOYED!!!

It was already announced around mid October that the BIS social and Messaging plan will be available on 1st December. You did not check the website before going to maxis knowning in advance that the workers there all "makan gaji buta".

I have no problem with my BIS premium plan for RM 488 package.
I manage to use the BIS on 7th Nov (bought the phone on 6th Nov) as promised by the person from Maxis.
I have an email account now with masix blackberry, however nv really tried it yet as I have set up an account for my yahoo mail.
The application downloads are really fast on EDGE. (I have downloaded Facebook, Uber twitter, MSN messenger)
And I manage to upload pictures to FB quite fast too!

i think they come out with RM488 promo after realizing RM1199 caused many problems, since the BIS Premium has been up in *100# but not BIS Social or Messaging!

BIS Social or Messaging has restrictions & limited to email or social apps only whereas Premium is open to all applications

BIS Social and Messaging not yet ready, have to subscribe to BIS Premium. Since this is the first month, you can subscribe to BIS Premium(RM98) for RM28. But you have to pay RM98 first, then ask maxis to credit it back to you (hotlink user). - only if you bought the bb8520 from maxis.

Calling customer support will not help because they were not inform about it, they say supervisor will call you back, but as usual they wont call.

So what I did was send them a feedback form through http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/general/p...eedback_new.asp about how I was charge RM98 for the RM28 promotion, they called me and credited my balance back. (waited a day or two).
