In conjunction with the availability of the phone, Xpax, Celcom’s prepaid brand will be throwing a party, dubbed the XBerry Party. Exclusive email invites for the party have been sent out yesterday to pre-registered Xpax customers, informing them of the upcoming berry bash on Saturday, October 10, 2009. Beginning from 7.30pm onwards, the party is set to take place at Republic, Sunway Pyramid.

The XBerry Party will be giving a one-time price offer of RM888 for the BlackBerry Curve 8520, for the first 500 pre-registered peeps that arrive at the party. Aside from the discount, the first 500 will also get to enjoy awesome freebies such as Free One Month Access to the BlackBerry Internet Service, Special Edition BlackBerry Designer skins, BlackBerry leather holster or BlackBerry car charger.

Another party perk for pre-registered customers would be the BlackBerry themes, custom-designed by featured performers LapSap, Twilight Action Girl, Joe Flizzow, Arabyrd and Pop Shuvit. A lucky draw with BlackBerry devices for prizes will also be held, where lucky winners will stand a chance to win the Storm, Bold, Curve 8520 or Curve 8900.

I bought it from the party with the postpaid plan. RM788 for postpaid and you'll have to take either CEP50 + BIS68 or RM588 for device if you take CEP250 (comes with BIS). If you're not an existing Celcom customer for 12 months, you'll have to pay an advanced payment of RM300 and it will be rebated back in 6 months. smile.gif

went to the party....the RM888 was specifically for prepaid users only if u want to buy the phone, otherwise you got to buy a prepaid package.

then need to buy top up RM50, regardless of whatever the credit amount available in yr existing prepaid account.

good thing about this is RM888 is without any contract...if u want to use the device with other numbers or other telco...no strings attached! thumbup.gif

I thought of waiting for the postpaid deal to be out...but then again my postpaid is under Celcom Biz and according to my account manager they have yet to finalise the package.

The problem with Celcom Biz is that the contract period would be 2 years; whereas the normal postpaid would be 1 year. And to change the number from Biz package to normal postpaid (Celcom Exec package) is also a lot of hassle...the in the event there's a breach of contract (early termination within the contract period) the terms and conditions (penalty) is still unknown.

So, I just grabbed the RM888 deal. The next telco price war could be on data & blackberry package, so i'm leaving my options open. nod.gif

Huh?! I thought they told me it's only for prepaid customers?!

I was kinda pissed at the final lucky draw....5 phones were available and only 2 sets were given out...to a same guy who bought 9 sets! I missed the draw twice by 2 digits shakehead.gif

If they told you that then they seriously do not know what they are talking about. At the counter, there were two plans displayed, one is for the prepaid and the other is the postpaid. I got mine with the postpaid so I bought it for RM788. biggrin.gif

You should ask those at the BlackBerry counter, those promoters are usually equipped with the basic knowledge of the product and that's all. biggrin.gif

At least all you prepaid users can start using it now, my postpaid BIS have to wait until around Wednesday before it is activated. My BlackBerry for the time being can be considered pretty useless. wink.gif

my goodness!!!!...tat's so unfair to sarawakian...sighh~~~ if RM998 + Rm 50.00 = Rm 1048.00..about the price of E71..

yea, did chck out the website...it is now RM998...and MUST include another RM50.00 top-up....
*

There must be a reason to it though, I guess Celcom had already done a research and the best is to be held in the Klang Valley probably because of a higher demand and sales expected over here. smile.gif

i mean does it support flash?...gsmarena din say anything about flash....
ya,i guess u r rite...desperate people like me will surely get it even it's priced at Rm998...after all it's the cheapest BB around...

The BlackBerry has no native flash support. For YouTube videos, you can play YouTube videos via a 3rd party browser called BOLT Browser, apparently the latest version of it is able to play YouTube videos. smile.gif
