If you got a lot money and need to keep upgrade ur camera equipment then go for DSLR. But if you like me no money to upgrade in future stick with s200EXR, me will get 1 soon de wink.gif by the way, i am jump from DSLR user to prosumer user, me currently using fujifilm S6500, last time i sold my Sony Alpha to downgrade. The reason is too trouble for me to play a lot of stuff in DSLR.

You got the point. I understand that the IQ was not so good compare with DSLR and difficult to get a external flash for this camera.

Internet reviews have commented that the image quality on the 200 is worse off than the 100.

My comments: Get a DSLR if picture quality is important for u, or get a PnS if quick images and light camera is important.

S100FS CONS:

Image quality: Due to the small sensor, the images at even ISO400 is way worse than any DSLR out there. Also, due to the HUGE zoom, the weight of the whole set (900++gms) will make yr hands shake more and that will affect yr image quality. Again, due to the smaller sensor, shooting at faster shutter will not help in image quality.

Night shots: Dont dream of having very good night shots, again due to the small sensor (notice my recurring grudge??). Indoors with flash is not good, and even so for outdoors. Plenty of noise.

Slow-ish shutter lag: Didnt notice it b4, but there is shutter lag. Some of my early shots of F1 cars (taken in SG last year) missed the cars completely.

Weight: At almost 1kg, the weight can be an issue, esp if you use it like a carry-about. Getting a better strap helps, but....

Fixed lens: Even as the flexible zoom has huge reach, you cant change them for better quality glasses or primes.

Little external flash support: In fact, its almost hard to find one in MY. You can buy online for slave type flash as the S100FS dont support TTL or ADI flashes.

Price: You could get a DSLR for its price, hunt arnd the forums.

S100FS PROS:

HUGE zoom: Has good reach at 28-400mm, but be wary that at 400mm, use tripod for best results.

Good daylight performance: If you use the S100FS mainly outdoor and in bright lights, then the image are pretty stunning in quality. Matches any DSLR with the kit lens anytime. Can also get good bokeh shots if you know how to.

So, decide if the flexibility of having a HUGE zoom will work for you, and on where and how u plan to take pics, then decide if the S100FS works for you. Its a good cam with very good zoom reach, but heavier and more demanding than a PnS, but not as image sharp as DLSR. Good cam to have IF you dont want to keep changing lens, buying new stuff and learn to work arnd the cons of the camera.

How i know?? I upgraded my S100FS for an Alpha A300. Used the S100FS for one year, then decided that i have outgrown the Fuji.... cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif
