hey.. so i went there and told them my budget, they recommended me with the RS and morel tempo 6. the vifa driver is alrdy active they said its not so good.

random question, is it ok if i use different brand crossover for different brand drivers?

eg. boston crossover and vifa drivers?

the reason is because if i do get single drivers and tweeters that alrdy cost a bomb i cant afford to get a 4ch amp to drive them. so can i run them temporarily on the boston crossover?

any reason for saying why not so good?

its ok to use any passive... provided you checked the xover points are not too low for the tweets... you might burn the tweets VC if you do so...

talk to you in msn sometimes...

Translated: the only way to improve your sound is to buy from me.

Vifa drivers are leagues better than Boston. Prob is very hard to tune them active but they will shine on a passive setup. Why dun you give custom passives a chance?

vifa already built in active?

i think what he meant is vifa drivers comes without the passive setup so you have to go active or get a passive xover for it...

and cannot tune from the HU meant the current HU cant go active...

cheers...

vifa only sell drivers, so other OEM manufacturers use them in their component set, and will use their own passives...

there should be no harm using boston passives, only thing is u may not get the best from your speakers la, thats all

wow lol. that was a bit confusing! hahaha. i get what you all mean now.

@captdupe: i dont know what kinda set up im going for actually. the dude said to go active or sth like that. but yes i heard vifa and other related brands shine better on passive setup. i think i'd prefer a passive setup over active just so i dont have to bother after installing.

@craziechild: oh right. something new i learnt today biggrin.gif thanks. as mentioned above, if opting for vifa or scans, passive is the way to go right?

@ckmoy007: hehe ahh silly me. i actually thought he was trying to sell me stuff HAHA =S

@zennn: yeah, and i also heard a good passive xover can cost 1.2k by mundorf.

Gaaa... POISON!!!!

From what little I know, vifa suits passives. everyone who ever ran vifa actively, either upgraded or currently accepts the SQ they get now. Scans............. phewittt!!!, what CAN'T you do with scans. Can go both ways.

As for custom passives, 1st you need to get someone familiar with the drivers to be able to hum together a good setup. Mundorf is highly rated and I shall correct you............ entry audiophile level mundorf custom passives starts at 1.2k. Some sifu's have passives exceeding 12k ......... each!!!!

"so i dont have to bother after installing" .................. only if you get it right the 1st time. That's why installers prefer an active setup. It's much much easier for initial tuning and further tuning is a turn of a knob or press of a button away. Which may or may not satisfy your taste.

Try auditing a well tuned vifa set. Without stepping into scans territory, I'm sure its right up there.

Happy Icing!!!

but once u heard scans, most likely u will fall in love right away, that's my case. tongue.gif of cos u need a very decent system to make them sing well, if not those scans are wasted. vifa vs scans is like Mercedes vs Honda, wat u paid is wat u get, both are quality products just dat scans are more expensive and better. like most sifu said, vifa is poorman's scanspeak.
