ive been reading some threads and its surprising to see how much you guys know about ICE!!

anyways, i just wanna ask, Boston S60 tweeters are the same as the ones in the S50 model right? the only difference is the component speaker size, right?

if it is, can you take a picture of the back of the tweeter? (since u sell original S60).

because i've recently gotten a Boston S50 for cheap. around RM280. i read in other thread if its too cheap to be true, then it could probably be a fake.

the shop person told me its confirm 100% original so i just wanna make sure whether what i bought is original or fake.

the reason why i need the back picture of the tweeters is because theres no company print on it. but the components have a company print behind.

so if the tweeter of ur S60 has company print behind it, then that means what i bought is a fake!!

then at the midbass there got sticker or not? does it come with a warranty card since u bought at a shop?

theres no warranty card included but i do have a 1 year warranty for it. the shop keeper said the components are imported by Wo Kee Hong Trading in Petaling Jaya.

and yes, the midbass got sticker. i will post up the photos later, now i am dismantling it so i can take pictures of the set.

yes there are 4" comp. like focal 100 kp. but 4" can't go as low as 6" mid.

well, it looks ori to me. can't see poor workmanship from the pics. usually fakes have poor workmanship on the glueing and connecting parts.

oh thank god! i thought i've bought a fake since its cheap for boston acoustics. so my first thought was probably correct. from where i come from, most of the ICE kids don't know what boston acoustics is. so thats probably why the shop was selling it for cheap.

anyways, im thinking of getting another set for the rear. not to dominate the back just for a bit of clarity. i will fade more towards the front so staging is still from the front.

the reason why i need to do this is because the stock at the back lacks the highs. and because i have a sub, its drowning everything at the back. SQ at the back is like a hum of bass.

if i put the gain any lower on the sub, then i cant hear any bass when the volume is put to low.

what am i doing wrong? do you think i need to get another S50 for the back to compensate?

if u really wan SQ, rear speakers are to be ignored. no need to waste extra money on them, instead use the money for a better amp or HU. if u get another set of comp for rear, the soundstage is disturbed, i.e. u can hear ppl singing from ur back which is a no no for SQ. just set to ur taste when u r sitting in ur driver seat. ignore those dat r hearing in other seat, they are not paying for the sound system, u are.
the vid dat u saw, is not my system, it's my fren's. i was testing my amps, DLS TA2 on his system. well, what he got there is pure hi end. his midbass is one of the best on the market, Scanspeak 18W/4531G00, modded to enable it to play free air in the doors... my system is other vid which features clarion HU, DLS TA2 amp and DLS Nobelium, can go have a listen.

once in a while u can find ppl selling it in the ICE forums like mycarhifi.com and icehifi.com, price for 18w varies from rm1k-1.3k depending on cond. just dun get mistaken between the 8ohm and 4ohm model, u need a monstrous amp to play the 8ohm nicely. another one is 18W/4531K00 which is a different midbass, just be cautious when buying. new ones u can find the price on madisound.com. i bought mine from a guy in JB for rm2500, 18w midbass + 7100 tweeter, both from revelator series. but i haven't install. still saving up money to get a HU. dat vid is my passive system. next project is active system with the scanspeak dat i bought.

rm1k-1.3k for 18W is second hand? i saw in the website madisound new price is around $232 dollars. how come new one seems cheaper than 2nd hand. is it cause the distributor here jack up the price a lil bit? im really interested in getting the 18W. but that means hardcore saving for me!

whats the difference between the 18w/4531G00 and the 18w/4531K00? i cant find it in the madisound website i can only find the 15W (retailed at $222).

i've been looking at the ICE forums you mentioned. 18w still pretty rare to find la bro. where can you get a new one in malaysia?

18w are rare becuse once you listen to them in a properly installed and tuned setup... you wont be looking at other brand or model already... so not many are selling them... because its just nothing to upgrade to from there...

but the good news is getting a new one is just a call pm away here... hint: mnkh

and my advise... if you havent got a good HU... then better invest is a good HU first... cuz garbage in, garbage out...

yea i only heard the sound of 18w in youtube videos. if it sounds good on camera, one can only imagine how good it will sound in real life!

btw i see that your from miri, sarawak. im from miri too man and your ice set up looks impressive!

yea im planning to get a new HU. but i need advice on which one to get. im only willing to spend not more than rm500 on a HU. so which is the best bet? i believe most people will opt for the pioneer or the alpine. but which model at that price?

after HU im definitely gonna consider the 18W.

at madisound, it's priced per piece, means a pair need to x2. dun forget bout shipping and tax if u buy from madisound. the difference btween G00 and K00 is the cone, G00 is easily recognized by the slit paper cone while K00 is just a black non pressed paper cone, K00 can't play as high as the G00, but K00 has better bass but it's a heavy midbass, meaning it needs a monstrous amp to push it well. rm1k to 1.3k of course it's 2nd hand 18w. hehe.
as for ur rm500 HU, i suggest u dun push it if u are considering to get scanspeak. save up more, at least get the pioneer P80RS, or else u might say scanspeak doesn't sound nice at all. perhaps u shud consider vifa if ur budget is constrained, as Vifa are considered poor man's scanspeak. if u realli wan to get scanspeak, u shud prepare the best to listen to the best. it's useless having scanspeak revelators and using rm500 HU and rm500 amp, u get rubbish in the end. meet up with craziechild if possible, he will teach u a lot bout ICE.

hehe so its not just me who thinks these bostons lack mid range. ive always thought that i need to 'run' the speakers for some time to get the proper sound out of it. ive had it for like 2 weeks. its getting better but mid range still not 'shining'.

thats why i wanna get the 18w scanspeak

yes, garbage HU will give u garbage music. amp oso plays an important role too. yes u got it right, it will show all the flaws in ur system( in ICE terms, they call it 'unforgiving'), SEAS are even more unforgiving than scanspeak. for those who knows scanspeak, it's not cheap to make them sing. it's just my little piece of advice for newbies like u. it's just like driving a ferrari on a gravel road full of potholes, in the end of the road, u will get a total beatdown ferrari. not saying ferrari dat bad quality la, just making an example.
P80 new ones varies from rm1.6-1.7k, used are about 1-1.2k depending on condition. take it slow and dun regret in the future, i spent 3 yrs saving money and collecting 2nd hand stuffs and still haven't complete yet.
