Some interesting music apps:
- iShred for guitar
- Bassist for bass
- DigiDrummer for drums

To see what these apps can really do, watch these videos for the live performance that was done using them @ Megamall over the weekend

Another awesome app after that Augmented Reality app, presenting Prowl!

Best non-IM use of iPhone 3.0's push notifications yet: Prowl is a $3 app that pushes Growl notifications from your Mac to your phone. Growl's a global notifier that plugs into everything from BitTorrent apps to iTunes to Mail.

The possibilities really are endless: You can be pinged with a push notification when a torrent finishes downloading, you get a new IM or email, you're mentioned on Twitter, or anything else Growl can notify you about.

You can customize which notifications are pushed to your phone and when they're sent (like only if you're not at your Mac), and Prowl stores up to 30 days of them. Way awesome, since it effectively makes iPhone push notifications infinitely extensible.

For Mac only. icon_rolleyes.gif

Tweet Reel Lets You Tweet Videos From Your 3GS

A new app called Tweet Reel is promising to change the way you share video on your iPhone 3GS. Dubbed the TwitPic of video, the iPhone app allows you to record video on your iPhone 3GS and attach it to a tweet to be uploaded, just like other image sharing services do. It also supplies an interface to embed and share videos on the web and elsewhere. It's a little like YouTube, except you can type out the tweet yourself instead of having YouTube generate it for you. You can download Tweet Reel from the App Store for $2.99 (3GS only).

Regarding PhotoBeamer, there's another app that's made by the same company, BeamCatcher. It's free but it can only receive pictures from the PhotoBeamer app.

BeamCatcher

BeamCatcher is the free app that lets your friends and family wirelessly share photos with you. BeamCatcher works with its companion app, called "PhotoBeamer". This app is only for receiving.

New Version of Fring With iPhone Push Notification

Fring has announced a new version of their iPhone application which supports push notification. Fring lets you communicate on all your favourite social networks including Skype, MSN Messenger, Google Talk, ICQ, SIP, Twitter, Yahoo! and AIM.

What does it do? When you log out of fring, it keeps you in “online” status so your buddies can contact you, and you can choose whether to respond to an alert notifying you that someone is trying to chat, call, send you files, etc.

How does it work? Whenever someone calls/chats you, you’ll receive a beep sound, as well as a pop-up window, telling you that your friend is trying to contact you. Once you click on that pop-up window, it’ll log you back into fring and take you straight to the relevant window.

How do you register? Push Notification is enabled by Apple itself; once you download the new version, you’ll be asked whether you’d like to enable this option for fring, click ‘enable‘ and you’re ready to go.

If you choose to temporarily disable this option you can simply click on ‘more‘ and then on ‘go offline‘; so once you log out of fring, Push Notification will be disabled, until next time you log in.

You can download fring from the App Store at no cost.

My friend uses Faces, which I think is an awesome dialer alternative for the iPhone. He's happy with his purchase. It reminds me of the Samsung's TouchFlo dialer for some reason.

QUOTE
Gravity Mobile today announced the availability of its unique MusicID® application on the App Store. The MusicID App is a comprehensive music discovery guide giving iPhone and iPod touch users the ability to quickly and easily identify music, conduct text search by lyrics, view artist bios and lyrics, listen to iTunes songs and view YouTube videos without leaving the application, providing a simple way to find, experience and purchase new music.

MusicID allows consumers to find out about any music they want by searching using an artist or track name, entering a line from the lyrics, or by simply holding their iPhone or iPod touch up to music playing nearby. Once the artist or track is identified, the magic begins as the Gravity Mobile service delivers the most complete set of information available including lyrics, cover art, biographies, recommendations and links directly into the iTunes catalog of millions of tracks.

The MusicID App is made possible by integrating Gravity Mobile's market-leading mobile content, technology, and application design capabilities with the rich Mobile Music Platform from Gracenote, which acquired Gravity Mobile in 2008. Gracenote's Mobile Music Platform is a complete solution for music recognition, search, and discovery with services that can be tailored to fit the specific needs of customers. Gracenote's MusicID App leverages the company's Global Media Database of more than 100 million tracks which is an industry standard in the identification, categorization and organization of digital music. The database is accessed by more than 200 million users annually and processes an average of more than 4 billion searches a month.

"We are pleased to enhance the service we have been providing to iTunes users by incorporating the full suite of Gracenote's mobile music capabilities into an application on the App Store," said Noah Hurwitz, co-founder and general manager, Gravity Mobile. "This MusicID App is an outstanding music discovery resource for iPhone and iPod touch users, providing them with the ability to find and try the latest music, see the cover art and lyrics, and enjoy content in ways they have never experienced before."

The MusicID App is available from the App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at .http://www.itunes.com/appstore/

rclxms.gif I was going to miss my TrackID service when I swap over from my Sony Ericsson Walkman to the iPhone 3GS later. Now I can continue using it! Excellent!

If you haven't used this application before, it's a very nifty little application that is able to determine (with reasonable accuracy) the title, artist and other info of a song just by recording about 5 seconds of it. So it really helps when you hear a song on radio or at a cafe and want to quickly find out the name of the song. It's even worked with my car indicator clicking in the background. Very impressive stuff!
