QUOTE(Baronic @ Sep 22 2009, 02:10 AM) interesting. i maybe interested in this device for my next try. i wanna test the gaming capabilities though. anyone available for a meet up in TTDI / 1U area? wanna install some games and test the hardware acceleration. will leave whatever i install in your phone btw, why dont u guys use the standard 6.5 plug in instead of that touch wiz? also, where do u guys go for your cooked roms? for HTC we go for XDA devs. for Samsung? are there any cooked roms? 3D gaming for the Omnia 2 is still in progress. This is because the O2 uses OpenGL ES V2 which provides big 3D improvements but unfortunately is not backward compatible with OpenGL ES V1. This means that all current 3D games and applications (e.g. TouchFlo 3D, Asphalt 4 3D with IGP support etc.) will not work with the O2.....yet.. *cross fingers* There is a topic in Modaco on trying to create a compatibility layer for it. More details on Modaco. http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000-omnia-...tibility-layer/ |

QUOTE(mikehwy @ Sep 22 2009, 11:28 AM) just got back, did a short survey at Lowyat PDAExpert offering 8GB model for RM 2380 with free 8gb MicroSD and all their standard free package (screen protect & programs). Without the SD card is RM 2350. Theirs is FMG set with 12 mths warranty. Samsung Mobile 1st floor (seller's name: LAM) selling for RM 2100, standard set/package only. Theirs is Brightstar set with 12mths warranty. The thing is from my survey some shop claimed that Brightstar set is actually AP set and FMG is the original ORI. wonder if that is REALLY true. Anyone has inputs or opinions on this?? This post has been edited by thinakaran: Sep 22 2009, 08:18 PM |

QUOTE(auhckw @ Sep 22 2009, 08:19 PM) Yes, I bought from Lam 3 days ago and it's FMG set with FMG sticker here and there... auhckw, pls add me to the user list. thanks. Installed with Garmin XT (MSM map) and it seems like GPS detection way too slow and laggy comapre with my NUVI 255W. Thus this I8000 GPS act as alternate set. |

RM2346 including 1 year extended warranty, actually RM2300 is enough... but i lazy to talk and talk and talk just to save RM46... the 1 year extended warranty covers screen, speaker, buttons, etc, basically hardware faults. to the rest... really sorry to say this... while waiting for my Omnia2 to be updated, I was playing with HTC Diamond 2 and HTC Touch HD, prices for these units drop, significantly.... i should say... if you still prefer HTC, might give it a shot. |

Anyone has inputs or opinions on this?? That's quick for a price drop. I bought mine from PDAExpert 3 weeks ago for RM2399 WITHOUT 8GB MicroSD card, FMG set. FYI, I am not sure about other companies but from what I know it is confirmed that FMG is the "sole" official distributor for Samsung mobiles, just like as Avaxx and Zitron for Nokia sets. Package contents and warranty will be different though. What you pay is what you get. This post has been edited by bluhound: Sep 22 2009, 09:58 PM |

generally non HTC windows mobile devices tend to fall faster (the price) due to the fact that its market capture are not really win mo fanboys. More like samsung fanboys. so the price fall follows how normal phone prices fall (which is pretty fast). Case in point, the Xperia. IMHO compared to HTC seriously underpriced. good tho, for us hardcore win mo late buyers. especially second hand. drool.

My unit is Brightstar and I just back upgrading my firmware and change the battery cover from FMG Summit. Look at the advert on papers, it is clearly stated Brightstar is one of the 3 Samsung distributors in Malaysia. Guys, don't get conned by mere salesman talk

standard warranty by these two company are the same. |

OoOokkkk..... Didn't know there's a Brightstar around.
I think what ehsandy meant is the price difference. Also, I have been checking Brightstar and FMG. FMG is a multinational company headquartered at HK with other branches at USA, Dubai, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Philippines. Whereas Brightstar is a local Malaysian company. My mistake. Brightstar is also a multinational company. http://www.prnasia.com/pr/09/07/09466311-1.html 15 July 2009 Err...price difference... Introductory price, maybe? EDIT: Brightstar is HUGE. Bigger than FMG. HQ at USA with more than 40 branches around the world. Anyway, I came across this. The Omnia II is confirmed with the codename I8000. Look what I found at Brightstar's website... I8003 Samsung Jet widely known as S8000 shows as I8003 on their site. A variant or a typo? This post has been edited by bluhound: Sep 23 2009, 01:24 AM Attached thumbnail(s) |
