(1) I'm just curious, how much credit does Platinum & Gold card users get?

(2) I read in newspaper, some people have credit card but they don't use it at all. Won't the bank make noise? What's the point of having credit card if you have no intention of using it at all.

1. It depends on your credit history. Gold card and Platinum card do not mean that one will get higher credit limit. Sometimes, even Classic card user can have higher credit limit than Gold and Platinum. Gold and Platinum card offers users with more benefit, such as travel insurance, higher rebate, access to premium or private club/vip area, etc.. Apart from that, they are just all the same. All in all, credit limit depends on, your annual income and your credit history.

2. For collection. laugh.gif

Rebate purposes? How much rebate does Business Platinum gives? They also gave me one of those cards rclxub.gif

SCB Business Visa Plat gives a fixed 0.5% rebate for all retail transactions excluding purchases made at petrol stations.

It depends on your credit exposure and income eligibility. It can reach as high as a few hundred grand.

Well, a lot of people find the temptation and freebies given are simply irresistible. Moreover, most of the CCs nowadays are given FOC. While some card fanatics keep CCs for collection purpose only, CCs can undoubtedly come in handy for a rainy day.

Newly approved SCB Plat cc and Gold cc customers will be given a welcome gift in form of cash rebate of RM100 and RM50 respectively. It only applicable to new SCB cc customers only.

It would be better to ask the CS of UOB for clarification. My monthly DiGi handphone bill is fully reimbursed by my company, so I am not concerned about rebate given to DiGi service. biggrin.gif

If you pay your insurance, TNB, TM, Astro and internet bills using cc, it is not that difficult to reach RM100 per month.

You need to study thoroughly the stringent T&Cs and tiered rebate system.

Here's my take.

UOB Master - Cut
UOB OneCard Visa - Cut

HSBC Master - Cut
HSBC Visa - Keep

CIMB Petronas Master - Considering - For petrol 2% and retail 0.5% rebate.
SCB JustOne Titanium - Considering - For retail 2% to 5% rebate. This card contains the Debit card and Credit card in one. I want to keep, but very frequent when I use this card to pay, the cashiers will say cannot select "credit" function because the terminal cannot support. What's the point to keep this card then other then the 5% rebate? But if the terminal can't read the card, then I won't get the rebate at all.

I encounter this problem all the time and 9/10 times after asking the cashier to select the "credit" function then the transaction goes through. There are occasions that the merchant terminal does not support this card. Play the active role in asking the cashier to press / select the correct menu and you should be fine.

You can cancel this card but there are a lot of people out there who wants to apply this card but can't coz it is not available for new application anymore. I'm not advocating this card but you gotta admit, if you plan and time your purchases that 5% rebate on a Friday is pretty attractive and not to mention that 2% rebate on any other days.

I agree with you. SCB Justone cc will be the FIRST to be retained among all my CCs. Most of the retail transactions can be successfully done if we ask the cashier to select credit function early. In fact, I conducted about 25 transactions on this card and received the max rebate of RM600++ in 2 months. If we plan our purchase properly, we can fully utilise the benefit of this card.

The quick answer is yes but it depends whether the petrol station terminal can process this card or not. I can tell you Shell No and Petronas is a Yes but it's always possible if you use the card inside instead of outside.

It's one of the reasons why I don't bother looking @ CIMB / DA cards anymore for quite a while already.

For Shell, the card has to be swiped inside the cashier counter.

SCB took the product out from it's cards list but the info is still accessible via a direct link.
No idea why SCB did that ... lucky they didn't cancel the product for existing card holders. You can give a call to SCB and see whether they will let you apply.

I see. Then there's no reason to keep the CIMB Petronas card anymore.... except that it still gives me a rebate of 10% when buying at MPH on Sundays. I'll most likely terminate my CIMB card and keep SCB JustOne and HSBC Visa. So that's it. RM100 service fee for me.
