i still prefer using 7-zip (extreme compression), and Winrar/WinZip (compatibility).

hmm...can it utilize 4 cores? cause the 7-zip can only use 2 out 4 cores only >,<

7-zip LZMA algo only uses 2 cores.

to use more cores, use the newer LZMA2 algo.


Added on September 17, 2009, 7:57 pmbtw, if compress small files, no point using LZMA2. there's not much difference. [LZMA2 4-cores ~ LZMA 2-cores]

unless u're compressing few hundreds MB -> GBs, then u can benefit from LZMA2. [LZMA2 4-cores < LZMA 2-cores]
