nissin di622 or nikon sb600

any critical differences of them?
I've search around and many ppl recommend sb600 instead of di622,
anyone who really used both seriously and revealed their profile's uniqueness?
any concrete and critical reason for me to choose sb600 instead of di622 here?

newbie here thx senior.. notworthy.gif

Before we proceed to tell u which 1 is better, I wanna ask TS a question 1st...
Have you seen both of the flashgun and touch them?
U will know the difference once you have seen both of them...

i have use both... SB 600 cannot be use as wireless trigger using D40/D40x/D60 if i'm not mistaken.. but Nissin Di622 can.. Di622 have bigger head compare sb600.. cheaper ( RM 430 vs Rm 790) but personallly Di 622 charging a little bit late compare SB600...
itu je la yg aku tau.. me myself didnt explore my flash very much..
my personal opinion is that if u got the money, just bought sb600 or sb900.. then bought di622 as 2nd/slave flash.. biggrin.gif

Di266 is just cheap, and SB-600 is just twice the price.

As gstrapinuse said, touch both lens and think about it. No offence, but the Di266 just feels flimsy. The SB-600 has a more solid built, and a nice little lcd screen at the back so you can see the settings.

Of course, not saying that Di266 is bad. But if you have the money, why not just get a SB-600?

Di266? lol, not Di622 meh? laugh.gif laugh.gif
in terms of quality, SB-600 definitely wins
but Di622 flash power is definitely higher
it depends whether u nid the higher flash power of Di622 o not, if not get the SB-600

yes correct.. the head as big as 580ex... huhu.. di622 also got inbuilt diffuser+bounce card. sb600 only got wide diffuser.. my personal opinion is that, bought sb600 as ur main flash.. then bought di622 or much cheaper di 466 for backup or 2nd flash..i've use all three type...both nissin has been sold. cuma tinggal sb600 shj,.hehee

Alright, let me supplement:

1) SB 600 is less powerful if compared with Di622...the guide number tells it directly.

2) SB 600 has lots of function for you to play with, for eg FV Lock, aperture etc etc; while Di622 is very straight to the point, only TTL mode and custom power level...easy to use and user friendly.

3) SB 600 has a built in LCD for you to tune, view settings etc...Di622 no LCD, just buttons and LED indicator..

4) SB 600 supports RF wireless trigger (like Phottix Tetra) but does not have built in optical slave. Di622 has built in Optical slave but does not support RF wireless trigger...

5) recycling time of SB 600 is slightly faster at ~3.5 sec while Di622 is ~4...(fully charged Ni-Mh batt)

The above are all that i can think of currently...i might left out some...others pls supplement...

SB600 does not have optical slave but u can trigger with ur pop-up flash from models such as d90.

addin to the list:
6) SB600 has FP mode which allow you to shoot at speed higher than x-sync

I have used both and I wont buy another di622 is because
1) it does not have FP mode which means that I can only use it at max x-sync speed. (a big turn off when using it as fill-in flash in outdoors)

2) the TTL isnt that accurate and most of the time i have to use manual power instead.....

3) the annoying beeping noise emit from nissin when you switched it on.

acctually go for SB600 if you have the budget... on paper the nissin claim 44gn at ISO200 but nikon is at 36gn at iso 100 and normally original flash compatibility with original system are better than third party...

Seems like this is an old topic, so the final verdict? SB600 is a better choice? I don't mind saving couple more hundred of bux to reach SB600, but at the lower price point, the Nissin Di622 is jz so attractive...

My main worry is the lesser function of Nissin as compare to SB600 and probably compatibility issues...
