About CoolStreaming

CoolStreaming is an implementation of DONet, a Data-driven Overlay Network for live media streaming. The core operations in DONet are very simple: every node periodically exchanges data availability information with a set of partners, and retrieves unavailable data from one or more partners, or supplies available data to partners.

CoolStreaming (originally named HotStreaming) has attracted over 30000 distinct users with more than 4000 simultaneously being online during broadcasting of the EuroCup 2004 soccer tournament.

We are currently migrating all the channels into the multiple channel version, please wait for several days. you can download a test version 0.0.40 here. If you have any question, please read FAQ.

It is possible that the performance might not be good during the testing period, I do not have any dedicated servers for the broadcasting, even the media data is not generated by us. Therefore please be tolerant. Thanks.

Currently I have received too many emails and cannot process all of them. So forgive me if your mail is not replied. However it will be very glad if you can install a server at your site, especially if you happen to be a network administrator of some university where you have spare machines and Internet resources. Please take a look at server requirement and then contact me. Your contribution will be very much appreciated.
