Now comes the review.
Not a detailed one, since i juz got them.

First of all, let's talk about the packaging. I was surprised as the box it came in was small. i thought the box would have been bigger. At least from the pics, it looks big. When i opened the box, the Hippo fits snugly in the foam with the cables and accessories (extra tips / case) in their own little compartment. Although they dun have the extravagant box like the Monster Turbine's, this little box is enough to ship the headphone without damaging it.

Next, i was caught a bit off guard here. It's the built of the Hippo. I didnt expect much from a RM150 earphones, but the Hippo is well built. I m not sure if the material is plastic or aluminium, but somehow it has the solid feel like the Turbines. Albeit the turbines are full metal. For something this cheap, it is well built. thumbup.gif

And i thought the surprises would stop there, but when i plugged in the Hippo into my iPhone 3Gs, i went ... WTF?! the bass is aplenty, thus the name Hippo BOOM! and for an earphone to show bass without cracking out of the box, that itself is an amazing feat. Even UM2's and W3's bass crack and didnt have much punch out of the box. After listening to the same songs i tested the Turbines with, I can say that the bass quality is almost similar. But the Turbines has a better defined bass and more slam. Nevertheless, the hippo is not bad, juz a little less defined bass. as for the mids and highs, well, i m spoilt by the ES3X's, so in the hippo, it is okay. But the best thing is, NO SIBILANCE! biggrin.gif But after all, u didnt buy the Hippo for its highs or mids, u bought it bcoz of its awesome bass!

Well, i think thats about it. I m not really an analytical listener. My views are based on what i heard. No technical audiophiles terms too. biggrin.gif. So, for those looking for cheap headphones with plenty of bass for working out or u r juz a basshead, i more than recommend this little baby here! Furthermore, if u get it now, u can enhance the bass with the free fiio e3! rclxms.gif

The bass level is like Bijou 2 type. Compare to Bijou 3, this boom slightly loses in clarity but in bass department it will satisfy you. Moreover, you get an free amp!!! thumbup.gif

Walabies is truly Good seller , I got my A500 and Hippo Boom last Friday~ Oh my God so excited when get the headphone from my colleague. That is my first time online bought a headphone and iem~

Here is my experience for ATH A500

The Headphone is big and fully cover your ear! The sound is awesome ! First time i using normal mp3 to test ...i still though that oh my god,,y the A500 create so much noise...i though that izzit my A500 got problem...but after using FLAC format ...Oh my god...the power of A500 finally coming out...its bass comfortable and solid not like sennheiser HDseries..not so comfortable. This is my personal experience.

But A500 got some weakness is ..my ear will get sweat ..if too long time ,and the headphone is big and i like to sit againts the walls, so the headphone always get hit by the wall when i turn my head i so heart pain.

My colleague buy grando s80i but after compare ath a500...i feel that i am so lucky to have it!! it worth! i like it so much ~ because it make me feel MUSIC can be so different

Here is my experience for Hippo Boom

When i get the Hippo Boom from my colleague...he laught at me why the name so funny geh? haha~ wahh..Hippo BooM + Amp only 150~ sound good ~ but lets try the sound! Once i plug in to my ear...wahh noise isolation i think got 70% ~and try some Mariah Carey's song..wow the bass ...the bass~ can feel it so obviously ! (paiseh my english not very good) i like it...very comfortable and i think hippoboom is make by metal gua because feel very cold in air-con room.

The free amp ....erm....need to use 1 AAA batery and i dn think it map with hippo boom...but when i use it on my ATH A500..oh my god ~ the sound make so much different again ! i like the amp ! this amp can use for ur ipod or mp3 or handphone..!

Weakness for Hippo boom ...what i Think is No weakness so far ..I recommed Hippo Boom to others~Maybe because this is my first buy so expensive earphone..haha...do not laught at me o!

Thanks Walabies fast response and explain to me patiently ! Thank you send a nice goods to me ^^
